In August, each year, The N.E.W. Zoo has their biggest fund raiser: Feast with the Beast. Tables are set up throughout the zoo; over 40 vendors from area businesses offer ample samples of food/drink sold at restaurants, breweries, etc. This year there was beer, wine, ribs, ice cream cones, shrimp, mac 'n cheese, sirloin tips, wings, etc. It is kind of pricey, $30 each, even for kids. Very few kids were there. There is only one station with non-alcoholic beverages available. We had to buy Gatorade for the child in our group because he was "dying of thirst."
We got there an hour early because the line to get in at 6 pm is huge. It's amazing how quickly they get everyone in there though. The stations close to the entrance back up quickly. I'd suggest going deep into the zoo first to get to the stations there so you don't spend so much time waiting in a line. By 7:30, some stations were out of food, despite the event going to 8 pm.
Truthfully, I had gotten something to eat at less than half of the stations and was so full at that point, that I really didn't care that some places had run out of food. One station offered coupons for a free donut, because they had run out.
