“Fantastic, modern, spacious family house!”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

We stayed here with X-mas with our 3 teenage kids and we loved it! The kids want to pick up the house and put it in Melbourne!! Lots of space, nicely decorated and the perect place to relax. The house is perfectly equipped so you can make great dinners in the house, we loved the fresh raspberries the owner brought us on X-mas day. Don't miss out on Josef Chromy winery which is next door. Also the Stillwater restaurant with only Tasmanian products is great. The owners are really friendly and make sure you have a wonderful time. Thank you very much for everything!

My partner and I stayed here in December after completing the Overland Track. We had an excellent, peaceful and restorative stay. The big bath was exactly what we needed after 6 days hiking in the wilderness! The accommodation is brand new and very stylishly appointed - cow hide rugs, polished concrete floors, solid timber furniture, a massive bathroom with rainfall shower and really nice shampoos and conditioners. Other walkers in our group stayed in Launceston and were jealous of our lovely stay at Relbia Lodge.

The lodge is self contained and has a great modern kitchen (with a Nespresso - great touch for coffee addicts who can't get moving without their daily coffee!) We got a breakfast hamper arranged from Josef Chromy next door - delicious eggs, bacon, sausages, cherry tomatoes and sourdough bread.

The location next to Josef Chromy winery is a bonus - thoroughly recommend walking over there for lunch or dinner - the oysters and sparkling wines are exceptional! (We had the Barilla Bay oysters, and as non oyster eater, I think I am converted! They come freshly shucked and don't need any salt as you can taste the fresh sea water.)

We had perfect weather during our stay - big blue skies that set off the lush countryside perfectly. Being just a 15 minute cab ride out of Launceston was perfect - it meant that the location was peaceful, yet the amenities of Launceston were easily accessible. It is also really close to the airport and that is also a convenience. (For Sydney-siders you will be shocked how easy it is to step off the plane in Launceston and in 15 minutes be in the heart of wine country!)

The owners could not have been more helpful and generous, exhibiting true Tasmanian hospitality. We cannot thanks them - they really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay! We were given directions on the best routes to the East coast (our next leg of our journey), and we took their suggestion and had dinner at Black Cow in Launceston - a great steak restaurant that serves Tassie steaks and wines. Coming from Sydney, I was so impressed with the delicious regional offerings and I wish I had a restaurant like this near my home! (The creme brulee was to die for.)

All in all we loved everything about Relbia Lodge.

This is a great base to indulge in Tasmanian foods and wine in style and comfort. Can't wait to come back and spend longer next time, exploring everything Relbia has to offer.
