“Warm Welcome at Inn on Woodlake”
Reviewed 19 August 2011

The Inn is for "golfers, shoppers and business travelers"-and for us! Our spacious king room had a standing-room-only balcony overlooking the putting green. And, just as we had anticipated, a wonderful Kohler bathroom, tiled and papered in very quiet and soothing grays. The shower featured five powerful jets! The toilet was equipped with the lid that closes quietly! The sink was a large rectangle with "X" hot/cold handles! Toiletries were Kohler "Waters" spa brand. Towels were "Frette." There was also a speaker overhead so the ball game on tv could be piped right into the bathroom so not a minute was missed! Room also featured a wet bar with Kohler red-orange "wading pool" sink that we really liked the appearance of and were happy for the opportunity to test it out! We were surprised not to find robes in the room, but requested some and they arrived quickly. Other furnishings included a desk set-up and a sleeper sofa. The only aspect of the room I did not like was the air conditioning unit-the dreaded noisy kind that blasts cold air unevenly into the sleeping area. However, it was a cool day, room was on second floor, so we opened our patio door and left it open for the duration of our stay. Extensive cable channels available on TV. Free wi-fi, no password needed! Local newspapers were available in the breakfast area; a complimentary breakfast buffet was included with our room. Plenty of free parking right outside door. Location is adjacent to mall, short scenic walk through the botanic garden to Design Center and Kohler Spa. Sports Core Fitness Center is available to guests, but we did not get there this trip. Shuttle bus was convenient and quick. Front desk called and we were picked up and whisked off to dinner at the American Club! Staff were local residents so all were helpful, friendly and proud of the facility and community. Very nice to have this genuine welcome and service!

I have stayed at Kohler's Inn on the Lake for 3-4 years. Now, they seem to be competing with the only other hotel in that city, The American Club. So, this year, I had to look at another place to vacation.
Sure, they updated their bathrooms and televisions. along with a variety of candy bars in each room.
They have the best breakfast I have seen at any hotel. PLUS noon checkout! The down side is one needs to drive into the city of Sheboygan to eat or call in room service. It's peaceful and quiet..

My wife and I are 20-somethings who live an hour southwest of the Wisconsin-Illinois border. We wanted a get-away weekend trip and, being the spontaneous people we are, jumped in the car and drove north. We landed in Kohler, Wisconsin, by chance, and booked a lakeside room on a whim at Inn on Woodlake.

Finding the hotel is a bit confusing if you're not from the area. Our TomTom GPS took us the front door of the Sports Core, which is a large sports complex. We asked for further directions there.

The hotel front desk, service and appearance of the hotel were all great. It had a bit of stuffiness to it, however. It's not a "Carnival Cruise" type of venue; more of an elite, quiet, library. It wasn't a problem for us, though. Just a heads up that almost everyone we saw was dressed formally, and if they weren't decked out, they wore golf attire.

The room was sweet. It was appointed end-to-end in Kohler gear: faucets, design, everything. Spectacular! We booked a lakeview room. You can see the lake, but that's about it. There's a backyard-style golf area between you and the lake. Lakeside rooms have a "balcony." That's what they call it, but in reality, there isn't enough space to fit the width of a chair. The other side of the hotel offers views of the parking lot.

Cucina, one of the the on-site restaurants, was priced a bit too strong, but in the same comfort zone that is to be expected at resort-style restaurants. ($-$$$$$: I'd give it $$$$). We're talking $7 soup bowls and $12 salads. The food was excellent and the staff was helpful.

Overall, a very nice place to visit, but its tempo was a bit too slow for our taste. We'd come back. Definitely for couples. Not much to do for children.

Stayed here on business after an enjoyable trip for pleasure (golf) last year. Staff is highly efficient and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast and internet access is included and what can I say about the shower: simply the best anywhere.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Inn on Woodlake. This is a very nice, well run model hotel at Kohler, with full access to all Kohler ammenities, including the outstanding sports center,

We found the hotel to be well sited. It is next to a lake, with a lake-side path that you can use to get to the sports center. Next to the hotel's outdoor patio, overlooking the lake, is a putting green that our family put to good use.

The hotel, as some previous reviews have noted, is adjacent to a shopping area. I would not consider it a "strip mall" but rather a small convenient and attractive shopping plaza. It has a relatively upscale collection of shops and includes a good, somewhat pricey Italian restaurant, a cafe and a nice market. To me, this did not detract from the location. Rather it was a plus.

Our room was comfortable. There was a nice, complimentary continental breakfast available in a comfortable common area.

We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful.

A couple of points keep me from rating this as a 5 rather than a 4:

First, there is no business center or truly usable computer arrangement at the Inn. There was one computer in the lower level, set on a breakfront rather than a desk. There was no way to comfortably sit at the breakfront to use the computer. Also, there was no printer. Any printing had to be sent to ghe front desk. It would be extremely easy for the hotel to place a computer, printer and desk in either the lobby area or the communal/breakfast area. You can use the business center at the American Club -- and you can tke the Kohler shutttle to get there -- but that really is not a good substitute for computer access at the Inn.

Second, given that the Inn is part of the Kohler community, I would have expected a better designed bathroom. Yes, the shower (as other reviewers have noted) is terrific. My concern was layout. Given the vanity and bathroom alternatives on display at the Kohler design shop in Kohler, clearly Kohler has multiple options for bathroom design. Yet, the vanity/sink area offered relatively little working space. For example, there was no shelf or nook for the hair dryer; it was stored in the closet. I have seen more usable layouts in the better chain hotels. Not what I would have expected from a Kohler hotel.

That said, overall, I think the Inn is a great option for staying in Kohler. I would defintely stay there again and I highly recommend it.

The inn on Woodlake is a elegant and well located hotel. It's far enough away from the city that it's quiet but it's not so far away it takes an hour to get there. Though there is no pool you get a free pass to the sports core. Every morning they have an amazing breakfast buffet. No room service...Oh well. Overall Inn on Woodlake seems like a good value and excperience
