“A piece of heaven”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

My husband and I love this part of Wisconsin; the landscape is so beautiful we can never get enough of it. We could not have found a better place to relax and rejuvenate than KV Ranch. The Big Sky Getaway was so wonderfully put together; we felt like we were the first people to stay there. Everything was spotless and every detail had been thought of - right down to a flashlight that we could find our way with when we turned out all the lights to enjoy the magnificent night sky. We spent a lot of hours sitting on the porch in those wonderful rockers taking in the spectacular view. We had read a lot about the great bed and the wonderful cookies; both exceeded our expectations! If you want quiet, this is the place for you. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: You can't beat the Big Sky Getaway cabin for seclusion and solitude.

We've stayed here twice so far, once last summer and once this summer. Both stays were fantastic. The Albertella was just the right size for me, my wife, and our two kids, and it's very clean and comfortable. We love being able to cook for ourselves while traveling, and this cabin has a full kitchen. We come for the quiet and the beautiful scenery. The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is just down the road; the country roads and KVR trails are great for long runs and hiking. This is a great place for quiet contemplation and peaceful relaxation.

We came to the KV Ranch to visit a friend and visit her new home in the valley. The KV Ranch offered the most beautiful cabin we’ve EVER stayed in. Everything we needed was there from cooking utensils to bath items. The bed was incredible! The view was spectacular. Talk about reconnecting with some of the best scenery and recreation in the state of Wisconsin. We canoed part of the Kickapoo River, visited the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and explored the countryside, but it would have been just as easy to sit in the porch rockers all day and relax. Read the FAQ on the website! Ranch owners are very clear about what they have to offer. The next time we stay we will bring a cooler for meals we intend to prepare ourselves.

Room Tip: Every cabin is beautiful.

We used this as "overflow housing" for a family reunion, but would highly recommend it for a stay at any season of the year. Views are spectacular, rocking chairs on the porch are a perfect place to begin or end the day in Spring through Fall. The hosts have thought through every amenity including their signature welcome cookies. Whether you are in the mood to go out and explore or just cocoon this place can't be beat!

Loved the quiet environment. The cabin was gorgeous and had everything we needed to hide away for a couple days. The bed was super comfortable. Attention to details made this a great place to get away. The porch and rocking chairs were wonderful.

If you are looking for a quite getaway that will make you forget the everyday outside world exists, this is the place for you! Your journey starts the moment you enter the check-in lot and receive the inquisitive stares of the llamas that seem to say "welcome home, what took so long?", then to meeting the ever-present jovial host that is Cowboy Joe....a truly genuine and joyful individual. From a distance Cowboy David looks like the ranch's quintessential cowboy, but upon meeting him will discover that he is a very gentle soul who grew up in the area and has great and wonderful stories to tell....you will also learn that he is the man behind those famous cookies you mostly likely have heard about and will soon be enjoying yourself. Once arriving at your cabin of choice, you will enter a solitude that was especially prepared "just for you" with just the right amount of amenities that will make your stay "relaxing and rewarding". And, if that wasn't enough, pour yourself a glass of wine, retreat to the back patio, sit in the wooden rockers and just get lost in the sights and sounds of the surrounding valley that is around you. Quick tip....this is also a great place to enjoy that famous cookie with a hot cup of coffee in the crisp morning air with a touch of the clouds hanging in the valley for your viewing pleasure. Who knows, you may also have some other occasional 4 legged guests stop by in the pasture to wish you their very own "good morning, I hope you have a great day!" It is at this point when you start to forget what your outside world consisted of and you start to feel you have entered your own personal "sanctuary". If you haven't booked your stay yet, I just ask "why not?".....it is the PERFECT everything!!!
