If you like snow good service and a clean room this is a good place to hang your hat or helmet. There are many miles of snowmobile trails all around here. By car or sled the views are awsome. We had a big room, king sized bed and whirlpool over looking the large body of water.out the window. We have stayed here in the summer and the ride up is nice lots of tall pines lakes and other trees .

Room Tip: Stay in a room far from me my wife said I snored a lot last night

My wife and I have stayed here before and like the area. Very pretty in the Northwoods setting on the lake. The snow added to the beauty of the time. Rooms are clean and staff always willing to help with whatever they can. The pool area and hot tubs are nice and clean. The restaurants are hit and miss, as some of the special nights are better then others. Not much open in the area during the winter months unless you drive to Boulder Junction, or other area towns. The lodge is classic log style and the rooms in pine wood which adds to the experience. The casino didn't pay off as well as we'd liked, but thats gambling. Able to play and not get "killed" on the machines. The casino is smoking which is a draw back, but non-smoking is the way to go. A large variety of "new" type machines and some good bar drink specials at night. All in all nice to visit as we passed through.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor facing the lake for the view. If snowmobiling you can stay on groun...

Had us afraid to walk into town, i think they just did not want us to use any restaurant but theirs. The hotel was clean and our room was spacious. Views were nice over the water. Casino didn't pay well during our stay...i like it to at least keep my interest. Too far from larger towns for more choice of restaurants and things to do.

Here are a few pros & cons of the property:

Pros

- visually very pretty, "up north" style which is appropriate for location.
- Beds & pillows were relatively comfortable, very cheap sheets but beds were fine.
- rooms overall were standard but clean
- bathroom was clean
- nice pool & hot tub
- breakfast buffet was decent & price was ok. The waitresses & waiters are not necessary however, if I'm getting my own food I can also get my own coffee. We had a table of 8 & they insisted on adding a 15% gratuity to our bill, for bringing coffee.

Cons

- the biggest negative remark that I have is that the entire place smells horrible, like cigarettes & fried food. I guess this should be expected since it's a casino but since we stayed for another reason I never thought about it. That is until we walked into the lobby & the stench hits you. I would never stay there again for this reason. It's a shame they did not take steps to keep the smoke in the casino & to prevent ruining the hotel.

At the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino we found the staff very friendly & helpful on check-in & checkout. Our room was clean, comfortable and well stocked. The view of the lake was lovely, especially when the sky turned so many shades of orange, purple & pink as the sun sank below the pine trees. The only reason we gave this a rating of 4 instead of a 5 is because the food on the buffet was cold. Also when carving the Prime Rib the slices were more like a deli's shaved meat than a piece of Prime Rib. One could almost see thru the thinness of it. The wait staff was very friendly & took good care of us, which is a big plus. We did order off the menu after the disappointing cold buffet meal & were very pleased with what we ordered. The slot machines were pretty tight while we were there & we both lost more than we wanted to. However, all this said, we would visit this resort again.

Room Tip: A view of the lake is very nice.

Lake of the Torches is a long drive for anyone who doesn't live "up north" so they have to do something to attract business (unlike the casinos in Wisconsin Dells/Madison/Milwaukee). After several visits over several years I am pretty confident that the machine odds are a bit better than most other casinos in the state. And doesn't that make a gambling getaway a little more fun?! In terms of the hotel facility, the rooms are clean but pretty average. The hotel setting is especially pretty though, with a lovely little lake one can walk around, enjoying the north woods and fresh air. The fitness center is basic but the pool/hot tub/sauna is so nice I always plan to spend an afternoon in it. I am not overly impressed with the food options so I usually choose the inexpensive "Woody's" in the casino over the larger buffet area. There is a small grocery store in the gas station across the street which has fresh fruit and hot sandwiches in addition to the usual convenience mart things. There are many wonderful choices of things to do and places to eat if you want to take a little drive to one of the surrounding communities so this casino resort is actually a nice place to spend more than just a weekend.

Room Tip: I always ask for a lakeside room because the view is important to me. Do join the casino club plan...
