I took my nieces to this riding stable for their birthdays, hoping that they would have a wonderful first time experience with horses. The add on the website looked like the stable would be a "kid friendly" place, and had the added attraction of a petting farm.
Unfortunately, one of my nieces became afraid of the horses, and couldn't bring herself to get on the saddle. Two of the staff members became visibly impatient with her, which certainly didn't help matters. When asked if she could ride with an adult, we were told no, again in a manner that was impatient and bordering on rude. (Although riding with an adult is an option listed on their fees table.)
The other staff members were fine, the trail ride was fine and the petting farm was a nice added attraction. However, the impatience and rude manner in which my niece was treated will long be remembered.
This is a family attraction, and I'm sure this couldn't have been the first time a child became fearful. All staff should be prepared to work with children in a kind, and patient manner. A little patience on the part of these 2 particular staff members would've gone a long way for a more positive experience, and certainly would've caused me to write a more affirmative review.

For anyone who has young children that are not used to seeing scary things....please DO NOT take them on this ride. The horses were beautiful and they were very gentle but the Canyon Creek web site makes you think that you are going to go through an old western town with beautiful scenic waterfalls and canyons. The town was not a western town. It was more like something from a horror movie. My son who is three years old was so scared from those things that he couldn't even go to sleep that night and all he talks about is how this scary guy is going to come out and get him. I didn't see any great waterfalls but the canyon was beautiful. The cost of the ride is too pricy and don't expect to get a $3 discount off with your coupon. They already have it included in the cost of the ride. $20.00 per person and $5.00 per children riding with parents. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly but the horse hands don't seemed a bit moody. Also, you don't get to pet or enjoy your horse before or after the ride. You climb up steps to a ramp to get on the horse and off and then they take the horse and your done.

My husband, my teenage daughter, and her best friend had never ridden horses so on our arrival to the Dells, Canyon Creek was our first stop. Now I'll admit up front it was pricey for 4 adults ($78) but afterwards we felt it was well worth the money for the experience. We were each put on a horse and with about 5 other guests we went on a trail led by a guide. Leann was very knowlegeable and such a delight to ride with ... I was right behind her and growing up owning horses I know she knew her stuff. She contantly checked on the group. The horses were so tame! They were perfect for first time riders, small children, and experienced riders alike. Now there were some touristy stuff set up on the trail that made you laugh such as the ghost town. However the 40 minute ride was back in the woods and if wasn't for the construction at a nearby hotel you wouldn't have known you were actually in a tourist city at the moment. After the ride there is also a small free petting zoo for the kids to enjoy. The lama there was so sweet and just loved following my teenager around. You can waste $40 bucks and more on touristy stuff that in no way compares to the experience you'll enjoy at Canyon Creek. Highly recommended!!!
