I attended the Kleinheinz-Amman Wedding in December at the Grand Geneva and could not have been happier. I was the day off coordinator for the wedding and I must say, working with Kate in Conference Services was such a breeze AND so much fun. We got to know each other instantly and the wedding was flawless. The staff that we worked with that day was great: shining the wood accents in the Ballroom, lowering the temperatures to ensure everyone was cool and not hot boxes, straightening the Christmas trees (which required what seemed like 20 foot ladders, sorry Kate) at my request, and putting the finishing touches on the rooms were just what I needed to make this event flawless. The decor of the hotel lended itself perfectly to the wedding. The wedding food was fantastic, compliments to the chefs! I had mushroom ravioli, which was perfect. My date to the wedding said this was her favorite wedding food of all time. And we go to a ton of weddings.
Having Santa and Mrs. Claus in the lobby whole carolers sang was impressive and a huge hit with many of the wedding guests.
The complimentary glasses of champagne at check-in were welcomed after a long day of driving to Wisconsin.
The night of the wedding there was a snow storm and after the reception, we went outside and took pictures and videos with all the Christmas lights near the hotel, added bonus!
One thing that was weird was the lobby bar. It seemed to not make sense with the rest of the hotel as it seemed to be a Euro club when we went in there. The night we werethere, there were two "ladies", gentleman hopping and it was just weird. Such a nice resort with a weird club.
The rooms were quite large and the view was great, even if it was a frozen lake. Seeing wildlife is always fun since the only wildlife I see in Chicago are dogs and pigeons, HAH!
Would I come back here? ABSOLUTELY! I think I will try it out in the summer or fall as the lake would be beautiful to see.
So thanks again to Kate in CS....she rocks and it's obvious she loves her job! Give her a raise!!!
PS--I hope the Chicago Blackhawks Gingerbread Ice Rink won the contest!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the lobby or you may get lost in the maze to your room! You will know what I mea...

My husband, 3 year old son and I went to the Grand Geneva in June 2013. We had a wonderful time. I wanted an upscale hotel with a spa and we wanted a fun waterpark for my son. We got both by staying at the Grand Geneva. The pool at the grand geneva was great, not too crowded. The service at the pool was great as well. Timber ridge waterpark was really fun for our little guy. I think it's fairly small for a waterpark but probably good for the 7 and under set. Our suite at the grand geneva was beautiful. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed here or holiday during Christmas. The nice thing about the Grand Geneva is that they have everything you need onsite. There is no need to venture to town unless you plan to do shopping. The ski hill is perfect for kids or beginners and the athletic club is one of the best you'll find, with the spa also very relaxing. If you afford it, this is a good place to visit for some R&R. The onsite restaurants are also very solid with locally sourced ingredients and mouth watering food. The only complaint I have is that the rooms are very loud during the evening. All of the sounds/echos from the hallways travel into the rooms. They need to install some sort of door/draft/sound guard on the bottom of the door like other hotels have to dampen sound.

We were there with a group of 25 with people of all ages. This is a great family resort. There were a lot of activities, sledding, ice skating, skiing, the spa, cross country skiing, beautiful Christmas lights. The lobby was filled with couples and families, playing games, listening to the entertainment and just hanging out.

Always a great place to stay, regardless of the season. Although, it is always decorated nice for the holidays, both inside and out. An additional bonus occurs when it snows. Take a ride through the 'Twelve Days of Christmas on the Trolley', a Carriage ride through the resort, a little spa action, or hit the slopes for a little skiing.

Located five minutes away from downtown Lake Geneva, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. In the summer, there are plenty of lake/beach activities to keep you busy, and you can always get in a round of golf at the resort.

Room Tip: The rooms located on the south side of the resort will provide for a nice view of the golf course an...

The grounds are nice and there are many activities on site. I am guessing a visit in the summer would be better than when I went in the winter. This resort is really in the middle of nowhere and beside the resort, there is nothing to see or do. That being said, the rooms were fine and at least one restaurant had good food. People were friendly and the just above $100 per night price tag is definitely affordable. Valet parking was free, but seems silly on such a large resort with plenty of parking. The business facilities were average. The Internet service was terrible all over the main building. The resort has a history tied to a playboy mansion, but wish there was more nostalgia in the resort.

We stayed in the main building of Grand Geneva next to the lobby and had a beautiful room in November 2013. Sunday morning brunch was interrupted with a tornado, so we were directed to go to a safe area in the basement where they supplied us with snacks, chairs, and water, and games for the kids. We took our adult children back Christmas week and again, had a lovely time. The grounds and decorations were beautiful. The bathrooms are very nice - however, our fan didn't work. The Italian restaurant is overpriced ($300 for 5/ meal ok - not worth that much, though.) - would recommend the buffet in the restaurant off the lobby. We paid extra for the Geneva Club, which was nice, but not impressed with the breakfast. There were no gluten free options - had to ask, but weren't given a menu with suggestions, just offered to go get something from the dining room. The only hot thing I could eat were the potatoes, as the other options had sausage, which make me sick. Had some salmon lox that may have not have been up to snuff, as we had upset stomachs from it later - nothing serious, but all of us noticed it after eating. The hours for each event are also somewhat short - went to breakfast at 9:00, and they were cleaning up while we were still eating at 10:00. The snax at happy hour were nice, and the space was nice for families who want to visit and not sit in their rooms. Info for the stables, menus for the Geneva club, and price/info for the spa not real easy to obtain. Wanted to go for a sleigh ride, and by 4:00, they were booked up for the next day - even though check-in was close to that time. Could improve their website on that. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. In spite of minor complaints, would definitely return - loved it! The scenery is gorgeous - and well kept.
