“Great fun for a group of friends”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

We went on a Saturday on the noon time slot, and it was with a small group of friends ages 25-30 and one kid aged 13. Having a smaller group made it more enjoyable, instead of getting shot every couple seconds. The outdoor arena is a great set up with lots of items to hide behind. If you have never been to CMP, it is not like a little kid laser tag set up. They have realistic guns with a scope, and you can only eliminate your opponent with head shots. You are also allowed to run at this location. We did not know this when we came, but CMP was nice enough to provide a big jug of water for everyone. We played about 4-5 different tactical games including: capture the flag, general, defusing/arming a bomb, and hostages. We played for about two hours straight and when we were done playing, we talked about our experience the rest of the day. CMP is a place you must try!

“So Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

Our whole experience was simply amazing. Although it rained on us, it simply added to how realistic everything was. Prepare to have tons of fun but mostly prepare to be really sore the next day. I would bring some bug spray.

“Paintball is SO last decade -- THIS is the sport you're looking for.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

This is no kiddy "lazer tag" with neon lights and bulky vests and thoughtless run-n-gun shenanigans -- this is LASER WAR.

This is paintball without the pain, and with so much more.

This is realism -- metal guns of various types (semi-auto, machine guns, sniper rifles, silenced weapons) with light headband sensors (so head-shots only!).

This is tactics and strategy -- usually 4-5 different missions within each session, varying objectives, defensive standoffs vs offensive struggles, keeping track of the snipers in the woods or the runners in the streets. (TIP: Go read their website's description of the various missions ahead of time!)

This is technology -- gunshots ringing out, suitcase bombs counting down, "King of the Hill" electronic timers, that heart-stopping moment when your gun is reloading and the enemy charges into the room.

This is fair play -- staffed by experienced good-natured refs who ensure everyone sticks to the rules.

This is more fun than you can really imagine. If you've played at CMP's indoor locations in Milwaukee, Oconomowoc, or elsewhere, you've tasted the weaponry and missions and technology... but this huge outdoor arena changes everything! Running like mad to respawn while your teammates hold off the attackers, crawling through the weeds to snipe the sniper from across the field (TIP: apply bug spray liberally on your clothing/skin, to prevent tick bites!), laying an ambush in the forest trails. Playing in a summer downpour (no lightning = keep on shooting!) is the most intense gaming experience I've ever had.

More tips: Sunglasses and light-weight gloves will help protect you from the elements. Choose clothing wisely -- it gets VERY hot from all the outdoor running, but the grass/trees/buildings/gravel can scratch up your legs.

The price is very reasonable -- and they run great deals on their Facebook page every week. Watch Groupon or Living Social too). Their refund policy is reasonable -- currently, you put down a $20 session deposit at time of reservation, and that can be fully refunded if you cancel > 48 hours before the session. You can pay by credit card by phone or at the location. Snacks/drinks are now available for purchase; they also provide free unlimited drinking water on the game field. No lockers yet, so leave your valuables in your car.

Only complaint: for the 2014 season, they are not doing Lake Geneva reservations through the Milwaukee location -- and if it's not a weekend, it can be hard to reach the Lake Geneva office through the listed phone or email. Hopefully that will smooth out -- and getting an online reservation system working would be even better!

See you there soon!

Hey Austin, thanks for the review! Glad you had fun at our Lake Geneva location. We did have a few hiccups with the new phone number and email system right at the beginning (things were routed incorrectly), but past that point it should actually be much easier to contact our Lake Geneva staff throughout the week than it has been in the past. We are also getting an online reservation system at that location within the next few weeks.

See you back on the battlefield soon!
