Stayed here on Thanksgiving weekend with two teens- the hotel was not very busy at all. We enjoyed the pool, although the lights were very dim and the sauna did not get hot. The building is showing some wear, and the first floor hallway has a mildewy odor. The internet did not work on the lobby computer.

Took the advice of other reviewers and asked for a Lakefront view. The standard room with two doubles was roomy and the room was clean and serviceable. The YMCA next door and downtown location on the jogging/ bike trail are draws. Free breakfast was fine- eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt. Nice view of the Lake. We came toward the end of the serving time and were the last patrons in, felt a bit rushed.
Overall, not bad for the BW internet price. I'd stay here again primarily for the location if the price was right.

Room Tip: Ask for a lakeview room on an upper floor

Great stay over the Thanksgiving holiday! We were able to burn some calories before the feast with walks around town and along the lake. Hotel conveniently located to many establishments downtown. The gem of the hotel is the lake location! The kids also had a great time in the pool and adults had fun in the hotel bar.

Stayed here with my family and the lobby is nice and the room layout is not bad, but he bed linens were a bit worn. Breakfast was about what you come to expect from a free breakfast....lots of carbs. We had an interior room with a view of the lobby but some of the rooms have a view of the lake.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Thanks for you nice comments. We appreciate you feedback and suggestions. " Carbs " at breakfast is what most of our guests have requested. We do however have plenty of other alternatives. Hope to see you again in the future.

Great location and diligent maintenance make this a very good value at its price point. It's downtown, but quiet because it's nestled between the lake, a relatively low-traffic street and a Y. There's a great walking/jogging trail along the lakeshore right at the hotel's doorstep, and a nice long walk out a breakwater to a small lighthouse. The Maritime Museum's right next door, but you can view the exterior of the S.S. Cobia sub without entering. Beernsten's Confectionary, an iconic old-style candy and soda shop, is one block west along with other shops.

While the property is older, someone is clearly working hard at maintenance and upkeep. Furniture, paint, mattresses and bedding were newish and fresh. The restaurant, lobby, pool and common areas were nondescript but serviceable.

A personable, cheery clerk costumed as a fox in honor of Halloween efficiently checked us in and directed us to the nature center we planned to visit. By morning, she had been replaced by two glowering crones....and that was no costume. Another minor nit is that the elevator wasn't cleaned during our stay; we noticed that because the same candy wrappers littered the floor on both days of our visit.

All in all, this hotel was a pleasant surprise and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Many rooms have a partial lakeview. The hotel sprawls, so ask for a room near the lobby if you have...

Stayed here a few days for work. The room was large and relatively clean for its age.

But, the hotel definitely shows and smells its age. But, you aren't paying $150+ for a room here so it gets the job done, but don't expect any frills or very friendly staff for that matter.

this hotel benefits from probably the best location of any hotel in the area, the rooms are large with pleanty of space, well equipted and clean, however when I asked for extra pillows, I have to sleep up high due to a medical condition, I wasnt able to get any, I understand it can be a problem as I also work in the hotel industry, but this is the first time ever in any hotel I have stayed in where I was told there were none due to the fact that the hotel was busy, is it too much to ask that a hotel keep more than the bare minimum on site.
Breakfast choice was excellant, in fact it was much better than one we had in another hotel where it certainly was not free, also the room is large, bright and with great views, its busy but kept perfectly clean , tables were cleared as soon as guests vacated them.
I felt the front desk staff could have been friendlier, on the couple of occassions I had reson to speak to them I felt I was interupting their private conversations, however that was a small thing and they were not that bad, overall the hotel was better than I expected, and like I say, location and views were worth a lot more than we actually paid, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat and would reccomend it to anyone going to be in the area.

Room Tip: ask for a room looking towards the lake, on a high floor

Thank you for your kind comments.

I have shared your less than satisfactory issues with our front office staff.

I was pleased you liked our breakfast. We pride ourselves on the fact that our Free Hot Continental Breakfast includes more than your average, no charge offerings at other properties.

Plus, we use real china with a fantastic Lakeview Dining Location.

Thanks again!

We stayed here on the way to a Green Bay Packer's game and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was good in a room with a beautiful view of the lake. We also went over to the Maritime Museum next door and took a nice walk before dinner. Very pleasant experience!
