“A Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2012

My wife and I stayed here for a night between a round trip on the car ferry Badger. We chose to walk the approx. 6-8 blocks and upon the Econo coming into view we thought, oh, oh. But we had a reservation and were greeted pleasantly by Raji, who admonished us for not having called for a pick up ride. We knew it was available and did take advantage on the return trip.

The room was clean and fresh smelling and non-smoking with a king bed and flat screen T.V. along with a microwave and mini fridge. There was an adjacenChinesese buffet available but we chose to walk into town for a little fancier meal.

The only complaint we have is that all the vending machines were out of order or empty. There were no convenience stores close by to procure a soda or snack so that was a minor inconvenience. Other than this we would have given it an excellent rating. The price was certainly right coming in at just under $70.00 including taxes.

All in all, our stay here was very pleasant as was the staff we had contact with

Room Tip: Our AC unit did cycle on and off in a bit of a noisy fashion and about 5:00 A.M. the train horns wer...

We spent two nights here and were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable beds. The hotel is a bit dated but it is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I was actually surprised by how big the room was for the price, not huge, but a nice size for the two queens in our room. We were on the second floor and the ceiling was higher and slanted giving it a more roomy feel. I love a hotel that has the sink area outside the bathroom so a mixed group can still get ready to go without having to wait for the bathroom to be empty. Room had a microwave and fridge, which is another plus plus in my book. The hotel is downtown and only a 10 minute walk to the Badger launch point or the Maritime Museum. You almost walk right past Bernsteins candy shop when you head to the Maritime Museum which is a real treat to visit if you love chocolate and ice cream. Plenty to see within walking distance. I would stay here again when we come over for the Road America races since it is only a 40 minute drive to the track and a beautiful drive.

Room Tip: Get an upstairs room for the roomy vaulted ceilings. I don't think there is a room with a view...

We crashed at this hotel after taking the Badger across Lake Michigan.

we arrived in the middle of the night (1.30am) and check-in staff was friendly and efficient to get us into our room.

the rate is great at only 60 dollars, but dont expect the Hilton.

Everything is clean, but the hotel is a little dated and basic.

Decide to take the night cruise on the SS Badger. Checked motels this one was cheap and close to the dock. After booking I read some reviews, wasn't sure then. But decided to go with it. How bad could it be. Wow! what a great surprise. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, the bathroom spotless, and the air conditioner worked. No complaints, Yes there are some cosmetic flaws they are working on, but overall it was fine. The breakfast was what you would expect-donuts, cereal, bagels, waffles, toast etc. Everything was fresh. I would recommend it.

This hotel is dated, but it is very clean and inexpensive. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is downtown near the car ferry. Free wi-fi was a bonus. We will choose this hotel again.

We booked our reservation 7 months in advance, and the hotel staff was amazed at the discount we received! Polite staff, comfortable room, LOVE that they allow pets, with a reasonable pet policy!!! Breakfast was great. The only negative I have is that the parking was sparse due to resurfacing (the staff apologized PROFUSELY for that!) and the grass is limited and not especially close. But, still a great stay!

What started out the be a great night ended up to be a nightmare. We came in from San Diego Me and my fiance are in the military and were visiting out families. We stay at the Econo lodge cause it was cheap and non of our family had extra room. Check in went good. But the place it self was very date from soda machines snack machine and locks on doors. We got ready to go out with some friends that were coming in from out of town. We got back around 230. Our friend had reserved a room there and needed to check in so we went to the front counter and tried to check in. Our friend had been drinking and is a silly drunk. Not rude or mean my any means he was making a few jokes but not loud or anything. The owner was the cashier and had told our friend he was not welcome and he canceled his reservation. He got mad and they exchanged words and he left. We tried to reason with the owner explaining that he had no car and no place to go we could not give him a ride cause we were drinking. the owner told us that we had to leave even thought we were already charged for the room. We told him we were ot leaving not was 300 am and he had our money. There was an air show in town and there were no other reasonable places to stay. He called the cops on us. The cops came and made us leave pack all of our stuff at 300 in the morning. We stood outside for an hour until, we found a friend to pick us up and let us stay the night. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I had to create there business on yelp to write this review. There are a few others places in town that are just as cheap and are a lot nicer. I will be contacting there chain owner and the better business buro
