We had always read about the Horicon Marsh, and finaly decided to see it, and wanted a charming place to stay. The Audubon Inn fit the bill --- the staff, service, and restaurant were fantastic.

The restaurant and bar is lovely with yummy cajun food from a transplanted New Orleans chef !

Room Tip: You will love Keith, the manager/owner

from the time we checked in the staff could not have been more accommadating had a slight mix up with reservation but it was solved with in minutes the decor of the inn was extrodinary all the rooms are named after birds the staff would ask if we needed anything or if they could be of service The NOLA restaurant and bar had a fabulous menu definitely would stay there again when in the general vicinity

From the first greeting at check in through the entire stay this place is excellent.
The Manager Shawn goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and happy!
All of the staff are friendly and will greet you with a smile.
Try their food at the in house cafe, you will be amazed.
Looking forward to coming back again.

Room Tip: Make sure you get top floor, west and south side away from street noise

Bumped into this hotel while looking for some couple getaways in Wisconsin. After one too many recent positive reviews, we decided to give it a go for a weekend just for the husband & me. We stayed here for a night and we absolutely loved every minute of it. A quaint little place with very simple yet elegant decor. It has a very historic old style feel to it yet offers you all the luxury you'd look for in a stay. Loved the classic room that we were in. Very comfortable beds, neat room and a lovely jacuzzi. The passageways have a lot of games/book for entertainment. Couldn't ask for more! The cherry on the icing was the hospitality & service. A wonderful, friendly & efficient manager & staff to ensure that you are very well taken care of. They make you feel very special and welcome. One of our first B&B experiences and am glad we chose this one to start with. The dining reviews for the Nola Grille were very impressive and we decided to give it a go. And thank heavens we did! The chef spinned up some of the finest food we have ever eaten in all our life. We are vegetarians and hence were quite unsure if we could find something to our liking. And as we mentioned our food preferences, the manager and the staff offered to accommodate our preferences and cook up a customised meal. And the result was a lip smacking dinner that is still lingering in our minds and mouth. The delectable breakfast was another delight. We left the place promising ourselves that we should come back here the next chance we get. Thanks to the Audubon team for such a lovely weekend.

A classic old hotel that was eventually converted to a B and B, but did not do well as such; has now been remodeled and refocused by new owners as a "boutique hotel" - their description. Classic hotel with history in a smaller town - but without the B and B breakfast focus, and with rooms pretty much devoid of the pillows and excess antiques that are all too overdone at B and Bs. (Breakfast is available, but as a separate function and off a breakfast menu for a charge.) The upscale NOLA bar/restaurant is attached - did not sample on this first visit.

Nice room, double hot tub, good bed, attentive front desk, and a quiet night's sleep. We went on a Groupon certificate, but will go again on our own dime. Check out their web site for more info. Be sure to also check out the old main street shops, and/or Horicon Marsh nearby.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms above the bar or facing the main street.

On our way back from a solid action packed vacation we came across the Audubon Inn in the hear of Mayville,WI. The short drive through the town was picturesque with a park bordering each side of the road and a river that runs through most of the middle of town. I knew that the Inn was going to be nothing but fabulous. The outside of the Inn reminds me of something from the New England towns of Vermont mixed with bit of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Very beautifully colored in cream and pale pink. The inside of the Inn, was decorated in country and shaker style furnishings that you might find in an older farm house or log home. The place had a feel that you have come home to Grandma's house and its time to relax and be taken care of. The room was large with high ceilings and well lit. The bathroom comes with a very relaxing extra large Jacuzzi tube, so don't forget to enjoy that! The owner and manager are very friendly and make you feel like you are somehow part of their family or related like distant cousins who haven't visited in a while. We felt comfortable and genuinely cared for. We also tried out the NOLA restaurant and found a bartender who knows how to make some pretty mean and tasty drinks. The food was unbelievable and you would totally forget you are in Mayville and not on Bourbon street enjoying the Po' Boys and Gumbo there! My hats off to the amazing Chef! All in all, this is a really romantic spot. But don't let the romance let you forget that they are nestled close to great hiking, site seeing and a really fun aquatic center! Passing through or need a break from the grind, this is the place to go. Thanks, Keith and Shawn for a really Great stay!!!

This historic hotel is an absolute gem in the sweet little town of Mayville! We had a standard room and were so impressed by its large size, high ceilings and whirlpool bathtub. The bed was comfortable, the staff were extremely accommodating, and the décor was sweet and old-fashioned. The 40+ year old Zenith TV just added to the charm. I loved the transom windows on the rooms. The NOLA bar and grill, which are attached, are fantastic, too! We chose the hotel after deciding we wanted to explore the Horicon Marsh, and we feel like we stumbled upon a treasure. We strongly recommend the Audubon Inn. It would make a wonderful, romantic getaway for Milwaukee couples! We will be back.
