We spent two relaxing nights in Cabin 3, The Bear Den, at this cute family resort in early June. Apparently we got our week in right before their busy summer season began. The owners and their children were all wonderful hosts, concerned we were finding everything we needed to have a good time. We rented paddleboats, the outboard fishing boat and the pontoon, and each time Robyn and her son made sure we knew what we were doing and felt welcome using "their" boats. They also offered games and toys for the kids to use. The lake is beautiful, very quiet and clear; we were often the only boats on it! The cabin was simple, clean and homey, with a great screen porch for meals. The week we were there, the second week in June, there were just a handful of seasonal campers in RV's, and everyone was quiet and friendly. We saw loons, otters, and bald eagles at the resort, and we spent one day at Copper Falls State Park just a few miles away. It is breathtaking and worth the drive and spending a night or two in the area just for that! The hike around all the various waterfalls is perfect for families (our kids are 10 and 11). Lake Superior is a short drive, about 45 minutes away.

Room Tip: Bear's Den is right next to another cabin. It is pretty small but both it and its neighbor have...

We just arrived back home from a week at this resort. Wonderfully quiet, without the hustle & bustle of a state park camping area. The lake is nearly private and the water traffic was just fishing boats, canoes, or kayaks. There are two docks for boating and fishing. One dock for swimming. They have canoes, kayaks, boats, and a pontoon for rent for very reasonable prices.

All the sites are wooded. The RV sites are located nearest to the showers/flush toilets and the lake. The tent sites are very private and remote and in the woods. There are also cabins available. We actually tented on an RV site, as our kids wanted to be close to the lake. We had cots, so this was not a problem because we weren't sleeping on hard-packed ground.

This is a family affair, and they are all very helpful and friendly. They have owned the place for 3 years. They are nearly always around, taking care of and improving the place, and are easy to talk to if you need anything. They even tote the firewood to your campsite.

This is a great base for day-tripping. Minutes from Copper Falls State Park, and about 1/2 hour to Ashland, about an hour to Bayfield.

If fishing is what you like, the lake has crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, bass, perch, and pike. We caught a 14 inch pike right off the dock. The lake is also not busy and crowded. They have a nice fish cleaning house with a sprayer. Everything is kept very clean to keep the bears from coming in.

We didn't take advantage of it, but there is an ATV trail access at the end of the driveway. They don't rent ATVs, but if you bring your own or rent and have them delivered, you are set to go.

We agree with some of the seasonal RV residents of Wildwood- this is a great place! We will definitely come back! Just going to sleep listening to the loon call on the lake is worth it!

We had a wonderful stay at this Wisconsin Northwoods Resort. It is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere, is very quite and has fantastic views of a lake. We were camping, but they also have cabins for rent and an RVing area. The owners were incredibly friendly. Also, there was great hiking near by and Lake Superior was about 45 minutes away. Can't wait to go back!
