We spent two relaxing nights in Cabin 3, The Bear Den, at this cute family resort in early June. Apparently we got our week in right before their busy summer season began. The owners and their children were all wonderful hosts, concerned we were finding everything we needed to have a good time. We rented paddleboats, the outboard fishing boat and the pontoon, and each time Robyn and her son made sure we knew what we were doing and felt welcome using "their" boats. They also offered games and toys for the kids to use. The lake is beautiful, very quiet and clear; we were often the only boats on it! The cabin was simple, clean and homey, with a great screen porch for meals. The week we were there, the second week in June, there were just a handful of seasonal campers in RV's, and everyone was quiet and friendly. We saw loons, otters, and bald eagles at the resort, and we spent one day at Copper Falls State Park just a few miles away. It is breathtaking and worth the drive and spending a night or two in the area just for that! The hike around all the various waterfalls is perfect for families (our kids are 10 and 11). Lake Superior is a short drive, about 45 minutes away.
