“A Trail with Variety”

14.5 Mile bike/hike trail with scenic variety. Great birdwatching, TONS of butterflies, wooden bridges, farms, adjacent to a serene river, through forest, waterfalls, rocky outcroppings...you name it. The trail was relatively level. We went on a Saturday afternoon and we passed maybe a dozen folks. No traffic and very peaceful. We drove from the Twin Cities and didn't regret it at all.
$4 trail fee.

“Scenic Bike Ride”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Trail follows the Red Cedar river. Several unique bridges to cross.Trail was fairly well groomed, but under construction for part of the way (crushed gravel was a bit soft and loose). This was not a problem for our Trek bikes. One can assume this is even more beautiful in the fall months. Restrooms are quite far apart for a state funded and fee based trail.

“Beautiful Trail in the Heart of Wisconsin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Great trail for walking, running or biking. It's a fairly easy trail, nothing too strenuous or tasking. I'd suggest bringing snacks or water, as there isn't anything available from Menomonie to Irving. Enjoy!

“Red Cedar Trail”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

The trail is great! It follows the Red Cedar River on the west side. The first leg of the trail starts in Menomonie and ends in Irvington. Parking is available on both ends. The trail is fairly level and great for biking or walking. Pets are allowed
The trail continues to Downsville and beyond.

“Beautiful trail with amenities.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

On top of being a great trail for biking, there is also a nice little town called Downsville along the trail where you can stop for lunch before going back to Menomonie. It also joins the Chippewa River trail, where you can bike to Durand or Eau Claire. We like to bike to Menomonie and stay over night at one of the hotels, then return to Eau Claire the next day. Beautiful level trail right along the river.
