“Unexpected treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2012

The Pfister Hotel is well known for it's beauty, but the incredible service of every single employee from the front desk to the valet's parking my car, to the maid who helped me into my room was completely unexpected. No snootiness, no coldness. These folks understand what is needed to make customers feel special. Keep up the good work - it's appreciated.

Room Tip: I had a room in the newer wing and it was beautiful, quiet, and comfortable.

If a great downtown location is what you seek, you will want to consider the Pfister. It is easy to get to by bus from the airport (take the Green Line for a fare of $2.25) which has a stop two blocks from the Pfister at the intersection of North Water Street and Wisconsin Ave. It is also a very walkable seven blocks from the Amtrak station. Two blocks south of the hotel on North Milwaukee is a very nice grocery with deli, bakery, ice cream shop and wine bar where you can relax with a glass of wine/beer or buy a bottle or mix and match six pack of Wisconsin local brews to take back to your room. I really liked the Ambergeddon and the Hopness Monster! For a unique, spy-themed dining experience, you might try the Safe House which is two blocks away. I had a fifth-floor room in the tower and found it to be comfortable and clean. It had doors to adjoining rooms on both sides through which I could hear normal conversations from the occupants. Food at the hotel cafe was a little pricey but good; however, the cafe lacked any atmosphere. I found the tables to be cramped and close together. All in all, it was a pleasant stay; however, I would rate the value to be average because of the higher than average room rate.

The best place to vist and stay with your loved one! When they found out it was our anniversary they treated us with very special. Now we have come back other times as well since and they gave us the same treatment. They just treat their guest always the same way. They make your stay a very pleasent experience.

Room Tip: If you want to see the city stay in the towers, but if you like old style rooms stay in the old sect...

I very much appreciated that this hotel is trying to keep the vintage luxury alive, but I am not sure the price tag matches what you get. The newer rooms are a better deal. Even then, as is so often with mammoth hotels, they can't quite get everything right. That said, they doubled my expectations with respect to service, so I'd likely go back.

Room Tip: The vintage/historic rooms are quaint. If you'd like more room for your $$ go with the new towe...

Number one, I travel a lot for business, this hotel has the best lobby bar ever. It is beautiful, and Jeff makes a great dirty martini with hand stuffed bleu cheese olives. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is top-notch. I attend a business function at this hotel every April. I look forward to it every year! Christopher, in hotel security, goes out of his way to make sure everyone is comfortable and well fed! He knows the ins and outs of every restaurant within walking distance! I just love it here!

Room Tip: when you walk into the lobby to check into your room, don't forget to look up. The ceiling is a...

My husband and I stayed at the Pfister for our one year wedding anniversary. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was extremely friendly. After Heather at the front desk inquired into the reason for our visit and we informed her it was our anniversary, she offered a free upgrade to a suite for the occasion. We walked around downtown for a bit and upon returning to the room we found chilling champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us compliments of the hotel for our anniversary. This was absolutely over-the-top amazing! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone for a special occasion or just a getaway. (The room was beautiful and the bed super comfy, as well!!)
