“The grand dame is losing luster.”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

Perhaps compared to limited choices available in Milwaukee, the Pfister stands out, but for sophisticated travelers familiar with upscale hotels in most cities throughout the country, the hotel is noteworthy more for its location than amenities. Noise from adjoining room was loud and irksome and there was a $10 charge per day for Wi-Fi.

Room Tip: Avoid adjoining rooms; sound from next door is loud and annoying.

This hotel preserves the elegance, fine service and excellent food rarely experienced here in the US but only in great European hotels. It's like stepping back in time, but with modern conveniences, fresh flowers, old world architecture, interesting art at every turn, and staff people who smile, are interested in helping and serving you and are highly professional and capable.

The rooms are spacious, quiet, comfortable with the latest in technology. And the bedding and towels are soft and don't hint of bleach!

The environment relaxes guests. No matter how harried the trip getting there, everyone, including me, appeared relaxed and happy. The Pfiister is old world in appointments and fine service, new world in technology but a grand escape.

Room Tip: Get a lake-side view. Sunrise is inspiring.

This is a very well maintained downtown hotel is over 100 years old. Great location is just a short walk from the Art Museum and its beautiful Calatrava wing. Also close walk to the Third Ward and its shopping and dining. there are dining options in the lobby piano bar, the on sight Starbucks- cofee shop or the Mason Street Grill.

We stayed one night at the Pfister prior to a USA Triathlon national event. After driving 14 hours we were absolutely beat!! The front desk staff quickly checked us in and even accommodated a late check request so I could clean up after the triathlon. Our room was on the historic side of the property and was absolutely beautiful. The room was large enough to accommodate our baggage and all of my excess triathlon gear including bike. After settling in we headed straight over to Mason Street Grill for a light dinner. Truly enjoyed the bar and the awesome margherita flatbread, pimento cheese spread and tenderloin sliders appetizers. Turned in early to get some rest prior to the triathlon - our room was so comfortable and quiet I managed to get a solid 8 hours sleep!! Although we didn't have time to explore the property the lobby and main public areas of the hotel were absolutely beautiful. Every one of the staff members were friendly and accommodating.

We enjoyed the visit to Milwaukee and the Pfister Hotel played a significant role in making our journey extra relaxing!! This property will always be top of our list when headed to Milwaukee.

We stayed at the Pfister Hotel in May and had a wonderful experience. The room was on an upper floor with a view of Lake Michigan. The sunrise in the morning over the lake was a spectacular sight to see. The room was immaculately clean and the bed was super comfortable. The staff were unbelievably pleasant and extremely helpful in attending to all the questions we had and also gave great recommendations for places to eat and things to see. The lobby of the hotel is exquisite and beautifully decorated. The restaurants in the hotel have great food and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend the Pfister if you are visiting Milwaukee.

Room Tip: Choose a room on an upper floor with a view of Lake Michigan.

Stayed two nights. Lovely hotel, great character - the rooms were excellent, location great for access to lakefront and restaurants. The staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly. We upgraded to a club room and were absolutely delighted with the service, we would definitely recommend the Pfister and will certainly stay again. JC

WE got a great deal and doubled down with an upgrade which included a suite, parking, dinner/happy hour and breakfast. Thanks to Amber Garr at the front desk for inviting us to the upgrade - it was worth every cent! And the very nice young lady helping serve breakfast took great care of us...even got us some cocktail sauce from the dining room for our kielbasa!
Although we didn't have time on this trip for a Bloody Mary in the lobby bar, they're the best!
Only 10 minutes to State Fair - and what a great time we had!
Thanks Pfister!
