The Pfister is really tweo hotels in one. The main building is ornate, historic and (depending on your viewpoint) full of charm or old and stuffy. The other half is a more contemporary circular tower with rooms arranged as wedges around the circular floors. Some of these have nice views. Many of these have been recently redone in a "black and mirrored" style. I like the original building, and always try to get a room there if available.

The hotel is frequented by MANY large groups, sports teams, etc. and so can be quite crowded at any time of year.

The Mason Street Grill, accessible from inside the hotel, serves good food.

Room Tip: Choose the original building to get lots of classic atmosphere. Also, supposedly haunted.

Thank you for the great review! You are correct in saying that there are two sides of the building. The tower side has recently been renovated in a more modern style while the historic side has the old world charm that many guests love. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others! Safe travels and be sure to visit The Pfister again soon!

Stayed here as part of a four-day get-away to Milwaukee with girlfriend for her 50th birthday. So glad we spent the extra money to stay at the Pfister because it made our trip extra special. The concierge was very helpful and it was super convenient to have both the downstairs lobby bar and the upstairs restaurant available. We spent time at both, and loved being able to stay in our hotel for a late night of jazz at the Blu. We took time to check the artwork and old ballrooms on the other floors, and also spent time with the artist in residence, making our stay at the Pfister a big component of our overall stay in Milwaukee.

I love the Pfister Hotel; we had a great value bed & breakfast package, and a Tower room on the 18th Floor overlooking Lake Michigan. Breakfast in the café each morning was delicious and generous, and a great start to our days of sight-seeing, stepping out from the central location in the CBD. Each evening, we enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the Blu Bar on the 23rd Floor with its spectacular views over the lake. The service at The Pfister is impeccable, wherever you are in the hotel. I truly love how the owners put back into the community with their Artists-in-Residence program. I also enjoyed reading the handsomely produced book of the history of the hotel - who normally reads such things? - but this, like everything at The Pfister Hotel, is done extremely well.

Room Tip: A Tower room with a view of Lake Michigan is a must for international tourists.

We stayed at the Pfister for our annual Summerfest trip. We stayed in a suite in the older portion of the hotel and is very comfortable. This is a wonderful hotel with an special elegance. The staff has an upbeat demeanor that makes a guest feel very welcomed. We may skip the Summerfest next year but we will still make a trip to the Pfister. We actually request the same room year after year but I won't disclose which one for fear that one of you will beat us to it.

Room Tip: Choose a lakeview room.

When you're paying $200+ night (on a wedding block rate), $25 for overnight parking is a nice punch in the gut, and $20/day to use the internet. We enjoyed our stay as it's a really nice hotel and a great location that is walk-able to everywhere, but it is certainly very expensive. $14 drinks at their Blu bar...no thanks.

We stayed at the Pfister for our annual Summerfest opening day trip. We stayed in a suite in the older portion of the hotel. There wasn't much in the way of a view, but that wasn't a problem for us since we'd lived in downtown Milwaukee in a lake view high rise apartment in the past - and we didn't plan to spend much time inside gazing out the windows anyway. The room was very nice, with super high ceilings and lots of old world charm. There was a small refrigerator in the wet bar area, which was very nice to have. The shower pressure and shower head were amazing - I don't think I've ever seen my husband stand under a shower for that long! The bed was incredibly comfortable. The only slight problem was the noise - we were on the third floor and could hear cars coming and going, buses idling, etc. But we had no problem sleeping - maybe it was due to that incredible bed!
Staff was helpful and attentive. The bell staff and valet employees in particular were absolutely incredible.
Since we did most of our eating at Summerfest, we didn't visit the restaurants except to get coffee and bagels at the little Starbucks counter - great to have that so close by.
The location is great - walking distance to the festival park and to many restaurants, bars and night clubs.

Room Tip: We felt it was worth a little extra cost to get a suite. It's nice to have a place to sit and r...

Stayed again for an over-night June 20 and nothing short of great! Professional, helpful staff. The hotel was packed with weddings and events but never seemed crowded or unruly. We tried the Tower king room and it was a very cool room - clean, spacious and comfortable.
