Located on 20 acres in downtown Milwaukee, the Museum offers free parking, Motor Bary & Restaurant, Cafe Racer, The Shop, park-like outdoor spaces, special event rentals, guided tours for group of 15 or more, and Steel Toe Tours of the Powertrain Operations, home of the big-twin engine.

Great display of Harley's!! History and years written everywhere to know the great beginning of Harley to the present. Very interesting how they were able to keep the factories going even throughout the war years by helping with the war efforts. And great fun at the end to be able to actually sit on some bikes!

They have a great exhibit with bikes spanning from 1900's to current day; beautiful bikes to see, as well as how they have been used in war time and for service jobs, such as delivery of mail, foods, and in police work. The "shop", which offered HD items had a huge selection to choose from and the cafe and bar were nice as well.

After I saw the museum I went on a previously booked tour of the Harley-Davidson Engine Assembly plant. The cost for the pay tours is $38.00 ($32.00 for museum members) which includes admission to the museum. (I see there are free tours on Mondays but they are first come first served and you need to get out to the plant yourself.) The tour I was on leaves from the downtown Milwaukee Harley-Davidson museum Wednesdays and Friday at 9am and 12:15pm. The whole tour time took 4 hours. You get on a bus to the plant and see videos on the way. You get steel toes to put over your shoes, safety glasses and ear plug and are able to hear the guide with an ear piece for the other ear. Our group was about 12 people and go along paths on the work floor and are able to see the robots in use & the workers making the engine parts and assemble them. You walk about 1 1/2 miles in the 3 hr. part on the floor. At the end you get a photo of your group & a HD assembly plant pin before you get back on the small bus. I was surprised how close you get to the operation and the length of the tour.

Overpriced for sure, but if your a Harley fan your probably used to that. My family was bored to death but I enjoy motorcycles and wasn't going to pass this bye. Very nice facility but it's too clean and ultra modern to hold any interest to anybody who isn't a fan, completely lacks any charm that would appeal to others.

A trip to Milwaukee, WI is never complete unless you visit the famous Harley Davidson museum. I never quite understood the historical importance of the city until one day at work, a colleague invited me to tour the Harley Davidson museum in downtown.I was a bit reluctant to go mainly due to my lack of interest in motorcycles, but I decided to check it out after all.

We arrived at a landmark building and I instantly knew this was going to be an awesome experience. As we had purchased online tickets to visit the museum, we were ushered in and briefly told what we were going to see, the highlights of the tour and what not to miss. Our eagerness was intense and we stepped into the museum just awe struck with wonder at the motorcycles and artifacts around us.

Whether you are born to be wild or not, the museum leaves a lasting impression on you and is much more than just a nostalgic experience for motorcycle enthusiasts. The museum is filled with beautifully designed artifacts and motorcycle paraphernalia.

The museum reveals American history through the trials and triumphs of legendary stories from wars to workmanship. There are movie clips and short films to enjoy. There is also a lot to learn about the product and its evolution, so be prepared to spend some good time here.

The vast and spacious musuem campus also includes a restaurant and a gift shop. There is a café shop that is worth a visit after the grand museum tour. Do not forget to visit the gift shop and grab some nice souvenirs to take home. A wonderful experience for even a non enthusiast. Loved it!
