“Iron Horse review”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

on October 26th we spent the evening at the Iron Horse hotel, upon arrival , we were greeted by a friendly valet, we proceeded to the front desk were we again greeted by friendly staff who gave us a complimentary cocktail.. check in was fast and painless and in less than 5 minutes we were up in our room. the room was great, large, clean and very comfortable. We deiced to head down to the bar for a drink and again got a friendly welcome from our waiter Travis. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and a appetizer, all were great. Later that night we had dinner in Smyth, which was excellent from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert along with excellent service by our waiter Frank.
Room was quiet and peaceful all night long, one of the quietest hotels I have been in a long time. check out the next day was quick, painless. we really felt like the staff enjoyed the fact we were staying there.

Room Tip: corner room is great

We stayed at the Iron Horse in October during a family reunion trip to Milwaukee. We only stayed one night, but the experience was fantastic. The people were friendly, accommodations were very nice, food was incredible, and ambiance was perfect.

We had signed up for the "Say Cheese" package, but they only offered the creamery tours on the weekend. We were really disappointed, but had to cancel the package. Kathy Trumbetas in reservations was so nice, she went ahead and gave us the wine and cheese for free! We checked in and within 10 minutes, room service delivered us a cheese tasting and a wonderful bottle of wine. You won't get better service than that...Thank you Kathy!!!

We had dinner at Smyth, the cocktails and food were beyond expectations. Good things all around. My only suggestion would be that they tone down the air freshener downstairs...its really strong right when you walk in.

Room Tip: Get one of the lofts...you won't regret it.

My husband and I have wanted to stay there since it opened and finally had the opportunity. It was a bedding factory from 1907 so the old charm of woodwork and Cream City brick (look it up if you are not from Milwaukee) throughout the hotel. The lobby is charming with lots of seating and an old Harley to look at. The bar area, Smyth restaurant and a cozy library (with fireplace) are on the main floor. During warmer weather there is an outdoor venue called the Yard where you can enjoy drinks and relax. We were on the top floor and had a wonderful view of downtown, especially when the lights came on. The room is upscale cozy. The bed and pillows were so nice you didn't want to leave. The bathroom has the modern feel with a stylish Kohler sink and the shower area comes with a rainfall fixture. The flat screen was positioned nicely so you could view it where ever you were in the room. Lots of goodies (for purchase) available on the poured concrete counter. In room safe and track spot lighting really made this a "Boutique" hotel stay. We watched a football game in the bar area after dinner at Smyth (definitely do dinner there) and since it's a pet freindly hotel had two pooches cheering along. If you own a Harley you can have it shipped there and be waiting for you to ride while you stay there. Such Service!

Room Tip: Top floor facing downtown.

So, in the center of the action but easy to get to, is a real find, to stay, eat or party.... Most think this place is for Bikers, while it has that tough edge, it still is a very romantic place. Check out the Showers (they have a frosted glass side facing the bedroom... ;~{) In addtion its very close to some of the best restaurants in the Midwest.

Room Tip: Higher floors on the north side have lake and downtown views.

If you are looking for a hip and happening, beautiful and unique hotel, The Iron Horse is for you! Just finished a weekend stay there with an entire wedding party, and everyone agreed it was the coolest hotel anyone had ever stayed at. Many fabulous settings for photo opportunities, both inside and out! (It was one of our wedding photographer's favorite hotels!) From the gorgeous warehouse loft-style rooms, the fabulous appointments, amenities and décor, to the top notch service - every need was attended to in style. I highly recommend it as a destination in Milwaukee for special occasions and romantic weekends!

Room Tip: The loft style rooms are on the top floor and are the most spacious and have extra-high ceilings. A...

The Iron Horse is an upscale, unique hotel in Milwaukee. The lobby is gorgeous as are the rooms. My bed was super comfy, the temperature was perfect - it was quiet and gorgeous. It also has one of the best stocked mini bars I have seen in a long time.

I loved the artwork throughout the hotel. Old yet modern.

The restaurant is excellent - I had the venison which was out of this world.

I can't wait to go back with my husband.

The Iron Horse blows away expectations. Sure it's beautiful, unique, well run, clean, professionally staffed and convenient. But that's just the starting point. Like few other hotels in the Midwest, this one not only embraces its city's industrial heritage, but showcases it in an elegant yet extremely inviting way. The Iron Horse makes turn-of-the century brick, exposed beams, forged metal and countless industrial artifacts luxurious and calming. But the staff makes the hotel and, in fact, Milwaukee come alive. These folks exude pride in their surroundings, know the City and its funky neighborhoods exceedingly well, deliver the highest quality service with low key style, and show genuine appreciation that you chose to stay with them (a particular shout out to Kathy and Juve for doing all this and more). The best of Milwaukee -- its waterfront, art, food, brew, living history and ingenuity -- is all on display at the Iron Horse.
