I will give it up to the person who designed the pics online, they make this place look great. However, the rooms are in need of a paint job and new carpet, very musty smell (Opened in 1937, thats what it smells like). Also, our view of the parking garage of the Phister where great if you want to look at a parking garage. Also, they will charge your card for the whole stay the second you give it to them and will hold it open two days until after you leave in case you have any other charges.

I will say there where 4 good things about the hotel: The location is great, The valet service was great, the Hotel Breakfast was outstanding, and the rooftop hottob was awesome as well (it is indoors).

I would not stay again, Stay in the Hilton or Mariott Residence instead.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street, a regular queen room will give you a large bathroom with a tub.

Dear Jamespburke3,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your experience at Hotel Metro. It is our attempt to provide a positive experience for all of our guests and, unfortunately, in your situation we failed.

I would like to address a couple of your concerns specifically. First, I would like to apologize that you were not pleased with your Deluxe Suite Queen room. Being that we are a downtown property, some of our rooms do face surrounding buildings. Also, we are working on replacing carpet in many of our hotel rooms in the upcoming weeks.

We value you as a guest and want to make sure you are a happy customer. I hope that you will give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations. Your confidence in Hotel Metro is very important to us. Please let me know what we can do to make things right with you, we'd love to have you again!

Again, please accept my sincere apology.

Sincerely,

Allison Geschke

The hotel is in a converted Art Deco office building and they attempted to keep the design during conversion. The room was nice but we would have preferred a King size bed but there were none available. We got the Potwatami Casino rate, so we were able to save some money.

The Pfister Hotel is right around the corner.

The Hotel Metro is a terrific hotel to stay in Milwaukee! The entire hotel follows it's historical theme designation as a true Art Deco (1930s) hotel. The standard rooms are exceptionally well laid out ; they would rank as a Jr. Suite in most other hotels. Very comfortable sitting area is separated from the bedroom area. True Art Deco furnishings and custom art throughout lobby, restaurant & rooms. Great beds and bathroom with Aveda amenities. Room prices are very fair and the overall value GREATLY surpasses the other famous name hotel nearby. Note: this is a historic 70 year old building & hotel. Restoration and maintenance is ongoing, but not a significant distraction. Cool and confortable lobby & bar. Hotel has a roof top bar and patio. Very nice place to end a day of walking. Great sauna & whirlpool on the top floor. Very good food in the restaurant, and well priced. Hotel staff is really "tops." Tabitha gave us super suggestions on places to go and tour. You must go to the "Safe House" bar nearby. The hotel is exceptionally well located in the city. Several great bars are located down the street. The museam of art is three (long) blocks away... but well within walking distance. We travel a lot and this hotel is THE PLACE TO STAY in Milwaukee! We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: As stated above, the standard rooms are like Jr. Suites. My best guess is that all rooms are well...

Stayed here one night after visiting from Chicago for a Cubs-Brewers game. Nice welcoming lobby with plenty of seating area's if you want to hang about or are waiting for friends.

Check in was particularly smooth with the front desk agent Daniel the highlight - consummate professional and was always on hand of offer advice and help throughout our short stay. The room was fantastic; a double on the 4th floor [411 I believe], very well appointed with a spacious bathroom, powerful shower and a nice seating area seperate from the bed area. Tea/Coffee complimentary was a nice touch.

Perhaps the best feature of the hotel is the hot tub and sauna/steam room area on the 6th floor. Very relaxing and from what I saw underused by guests as we were the only to use it.

Location is good, smack bang in downtown Milwaukee, we only needed Water St but from what I saw you're pretty close and within walking distance to everywhere else.

Excellent stay!

My wife and I found this hotel to be in a terrific location and something outside the normal hotel room. Our room was a suite with the bed completely isolated from the living area with a unique and stylish curved wall design. We were able to leave the mess of our clothing and unmade bed outside of view as several visitors came to call. The bathroom is quite large with a huge tub. The hotel staff were exceptional - I arrived by redeye flight and while I know they probably can't always do this, they were able to let me go to my room early in the morning. We also had a function at the hotel's rooftop terrace - what a great venue and terrific views of Milwaukee. The catered food was exceptionally good - both in presentation and taste. Highly recommended.
