“Very Nice Hotel - a bit pricey”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Overall a nice hotel, GREAT restaurant, the Miller Time Pub. A must go to if visiting the Milwaukee area. Rooms must have been ok'd to smoke in them, as our hallway smelled of smoke. Why must this be 200 characters minimum - It makes me not want to leave a review!

This restaurant has excellent service, restaurants and updated rooms. We have stayed here once a year for the past few years and will definitely return. The location was convenient and it was a nice part of town.

My wife and I booked a room for a Friday on a particularly busy weekend; due to German Fest, Brewfest, some sort of convention, and Brewers games, all of the hotels in the city were sold out. When we checked in, we told them we had been trying to get a second night in the city and were finding it impossible. They upgraded us to a King as an apology, which was unnecessary but very welcome! They also offered helpful advice for getting good deals on rooms in the future.

The room was very comfortable, but being west-facing did not offer much of a view. However, we didn't plan on spending enough time in the room to really care.

The hotel offers valet parking for $25 (assuming per day?), but we found it cheaper to park in a paid lot across 5th street. The lot costs $10 until midnight each day, so we paid $20 and planned on leaving the car there after we checked out, allowing us to wander downtown without worrying about trying to find a place to park. The lot itself could be considered slightly sketchy, but as long as nothing valuable is left in plain sight I think it's pretty safe.

We would stay here again, for sure.

Love this hotel ! This building has been updated with superb decor that stays true to the feel of this historic structure while keeping in place original fixtures as much as possible. The knobs and doors of our bathroom and closet were likely from somewhere in the original building. Molding, staircases, chandeliers, marble floors - gorgeous! The fabulous ambience is enhanced by some of the best service I've seen in hospitality in this country. Wish we could stay longer.

Business took me into downtown Milwaukee this week. From July 15 thru the July I stayed at the Hilton downtown. I staff was very friendly at check-in and just as nice during the check out process. Each time I ran into a staff member in the hallway or elevator they asked if everything was ok and did I need anything? When I say staff, I mean the painters, the maids, everyone. The hotel is very neat and clean and close to all there is to see in the downtown area.

Room Tip: Try to get at least above the 7th floor for a good view of the area.

The personal attention received at front entrance to check-in and throughout our stay was incredible. The rooms are very nicely detailed and updated and Clean! Even the house keeping staff greet you and consistently ask if there is anything they can do for you. The facilities/amenities for business & pleasure offer everything imaginable. Our son is getting married in August and we have recommended this hotel for all of our out of town guests. Plus, they are very "pet friendly".

I was anticipating a standard ol' Hilton; when I arrived for the TOPS convention, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The lobby and furnishings, elevators and fixtures such as the mail chutes, were all quaint but in top condition. The lobby was spacious and had plenty of areas for quiet visits or more boisterous games. The fitness center and on-site food and beverage outlets covered every meal period and product was very good. I note that other people say the staff was friendly. They were, but so was every person I encountered in the city, so I think Milwaukee is chock full of friendly people. Staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, and organized. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Our room had been recently renovated and was very comfortable and attractive.

Room Tip: Not sure of directions, but if you want a view, don't get a room on the east (?) side; it overlo...
