Was here a few years back; am in Chicago currently but made the trek 1.5 hrs north to Milwaukee & had to stop again. Great selection of cheese, some of it you'll never find anywhere else....such as my latest acquisition of ghost pepper habanero cheese.

Having just been transplanted into Milwalkee there was a culture shoke for us. Wondered into the cheese mart by happenstance. Guys working were informative as can be. Got the best cheese education I ever had. Sujested the Uber Taproom which is attached for a friday night date night. Which we did return and was not disapointed at all. Super friendly staff! Fun lovin kind of palce.

This was the only place in Milwaukee we could find the cheese we were looking for. Big selection with helpful workers and free samples. A little pricey but it is good cheese.

As a Milwaukee native, I have to return to Wisconsin Cheese Mart every time I come home. Yes, they have a good selection of Wisconsin-made cheese, but the real reason to come is the chance to buy one of the super-aged Wisconsin Cheddars. You can typically buy the 14- and 17-year Cheddars (be prepared to spend!), which have the most intense flavor bomb quality of anything you'll ever put in your mouth. Eating a tiny chunk of the 28 year is like when Homer Simpson ate the Guatemalan insanity pepper and took a hallucinogenic journey with a Johnny Cash-talking coyote spirit guide. It's not even really like cheese at that point. I don't think they still carry it, so try for the 17-year.

What's more, they have other aged Cheddars, including a 40 year old Cheddar they won't even sell because they don't want it to be wasted on rich foodies with conspicuous consumption habits to feed. Instead, they serve it at special cheese pairings with beer and other alcohol. That's where Mitchell comes in. He conducts those dinners, but if you just want some advice on pairing beers with cheese, he is your man. You can also walk right next door to the Uber Tap Room and try those pairings out yourself.

I highly recommend WCM as a stop between going to The Spice House for all your spice needs, and Usinger's for the best of the wurst.

Friends visiting from England and couldn't miss this wonderful store. The amount of cheese to pick from was amazing. Everyone left with a smile.
