“Fun... but less than ideal location”
Reviewed 10 June 2013 via mobile

The mini bowling is fun, human pinsetters and all, but the area and clientele can be sketchy. Just wanted to point out that this isn't really a kid friendly activity. Also, I would recommend travelling in packs. The location is not great, leave your Mercedes at home. The bartender was good despite the thuggish attire, as was the "12" year old pinsetter with more tattoos than the birdman.

“What a HOOT!”
Reviewed 21 November 2012

OK, this is unique to Milwaukee and a great place to take friends on a rainy afternoon when there is nothing else to do in town. Grab a couple of pitchers of beer, load the jukebox and watch the human pin setters! Remember to tip your pin setters, these guys work hard to reset the mini pins!! What a blast!

“Duck Pin Bowling”
Reviewed 31 May 2012

If you have never tried duck pin bowling, you are missing out on one of life's simple pleasures. The balls, pins and alleys are smaller than normal bowling, and at Koz's the pins are set by people hustling for tips. (Hint: If you flirt with the pinsetters, they may 'help' your pins down and raise your score) Great, out of the ordinary experience. Leave all attitude and snobbery at home.

“Bowling For Anyone”
Reviewed 25 March 2012

If you avoid regular bowling because it's too hard for you, but you still like knocking pins down, try this game. The balls are smaller and lighter and the lane is shorter. The pins are set manually by very agile pinsetters. Scoring is the same as regular bowling. Venue offers snacks and drinks at the bar. Follow some sensible safety tips, such check for returning balls before taking your ball from rack. You may find yourself scoring higher than usual, reaching maybe 200 if you work out how to throw ball.

“Unique bowling experience but not in the best neighborhood”
Reviewed 31 October 2011

On a weeknight, we called over to Koz’s Mini Bowling to see if they had any lanes open for the night. We told them we could be there in 10 minutes or so and they said they would have something available. When we got there, they told us the pinsetter would be there in about 15 minutes, so we sat down at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. Now, this is not your usual tourist attraction. You could tell this is a local bar with local people in it and it just so happens it has really cool mini bowling lanes in it. I would call it a dive bar. But there was no issue with us being there and once the pinsetter arrived, we headed back to the area with the bowling and played. Mini bowling was a lot of fun. You do have to keep your own score, but the ball is about as big as a grapefruit and doesn’t have holes in it. The pinsetter sits behind the pins and has to lift his feet up at times so he doesn’t get hit with the ball or pins! Then he reaches down there and resets the pins. It’s quite an experience. My husband bowled a 242, and we are not regular bowlers, so that makes it fun too, that you can get a relatively high score! Each game is $3 and you just pay at the end. We talked to the bartender and it is customary to tip the pinsetter $1 or $2 per game you play, so we made sure to do that too. They had mini-pitchers of PBR for $3 and the (strong) mixed drinks were $5 so the prices were relatively cheap too.
