“Very impressive hotel for the price!!!”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Unbelievable value. With tax, spent $137 for a king size room.
Received a FREE upgrade because of my occasion for staying there.
Bed was soooo comfortable, fell right to sleep. Room was amazing. Staff was very professional and polite.

Highly recommend this hotel!!! Can't wait to stay here again.

They had a great breakfast deal. Purchase coupons the night before for $8.95 per person. Receive a beverage (i.e. coffee or juice) and order off top portion of menu in restaurant for breakfast. We ordered the steak and eggs. Delicious steak! Came with eggs, home fries and toast.

**We went down to the bar for cocktails. I spent $10 on one mixed drink. Would not do that again**

Room Tip: Can't imagine any bad rooms in this hotel

We look forward to having you back the Ambassador too! Thank you for sharing all of the great benefits of our hotel. Our staff strives daily to exceed guest expectations and the complimentary upgrade is our way of enhancing your special occasion. Thank you also for highlighting Envoy, our hotel restaurant, for breakfast. I agree, the Steak & Eggs are a great choice. I would recommend the Eggs Benedict on your next visit...you won't be disappointed.

This hotel is very charming- the service is great and the beds are comfortable. I did think the prices for the wet bar was very high ($6 for a bottle of water!) and $20 parking a day... but other then that everything else was great.

The food in the restaurant was also very good!

We know you have choices when traveling and we appreciate you choosing us during your recent visit to Milwaukee. Our mini bar and parking charges are priced below all of our competition in the downtown area. By design, we strive to provide all of the amenities to our guests, while providing the value they seek. I was very impressed with the blend of old elegance with modern convenience.
You can feel the roaring '20's and yet find electrical outlets conveniently located.
From lobby to room this place is a place I could relax -- if only I were here on personal holiday.

Spent a very cold weekend in Milwaukee at the beginning of December but the Ambassador was always a comfortable refuge. Let's deal with the positives first. Great staff - very helpful front desk, cheerful restaurant service and accommodating shuttle drivers. I only had the breakfasts but the food appeared to be of a pretty high quality. The room was generously sized and I do like the way there is a sink outside the bathroom for when you have double occupancy - I was solo on this trip. The shaving mirror also passed the Sherriff's test for usability - well-lit and magnifying! The beds were really comfortable and the hotel was pretty quiet so I slept well. As previous reviewers have noted, the lifts or elevators are a little idiosyncratic, although both were working when I was there and you might think they were part of the charm of the rehab. What didn't I like? Well the maid service was not brilliant. One day the bathroom was not properly cleaned - the supervisor got this sorted but it should never have been overlooked and the next day, revenge occurred in a shortage of towels and coffee bags. This prompted a closer inspection and a sense that corners were being cut in this department. I also had to endure the Christmas muzak - a matter of taste but four breakfasts to a full-on Christmas soundtrack was almost more than flesh and blood could stand - the servers rather agreed, although they obviously did not want to criticize management's choice too openly!

Thank you for the great compliments on our staff and their hospitality. The hotel's elevators have been upgraded, while keeping the restored charm of the 1928's elevator doors. It one of the most complimented design elements of the hotel. Our housekeeping staff takes great pride in providing the cleanest rooms and consistent service of guest rooms each day. Our Executive Housekeeper is sharing your comments with the staff to ensure expectations of our guests continue to be met on each and every visit. We look forward to your return to the Ambassador.

Ok, my crew had packed up in Akron Ohio and made our trip to Milwaukee to continue our job. We had pulled up to the hotel and the company had set up reservations for my crew to camp out. We had a miss understanding with the rooms and company only booked two rooms for 5 guys and they were singles. Let me just say, the women at the front counter assisted me to the best of her ability and set myself and my guys with 2 rooms set up with two beds....let me just say, the bed is amazing. After working all day then traveling 8 hrs to this location, my crew was beat and in need of sleep. WOW!!! The only down fall for this hotel, $60 a day for each day you stay as a deposit. That's nuts, but due to the mini bar and nice facilities I would charge as well, but stating that when booking on line is a must. This is a very nice hotel and strongly recommend it!! Not to shabby by no means!!

Thank you for choosing the Ambassador. Our staff strives to assist our guests with their needs and exceed their expectations on each and every visit. We are happy your arrangements were modified to accommodate your group. The $60 is an authorization hold to cover potential incidentals charges during your stay. It is actually not a deposit, nor a charge, unless you apply any incidental charges to the authorization. We receive many compliments on the beds in our rooms. Your comfort is a top priority at the Ambassador! We look forward to your future return.

This hotel was a great deal on Hotwire (4 of 5 stars). Arrived at the hotel after midnight and GPS took me through some rough neighborhoods. I would not recommend walking after 9pm. All that aside, parking is well lit and relatively secure. The Ambassador has some age but is well maintained. The room was clean and well appointed. The bed and sheets were VERY comfortable. Trust me, the linen quality is rivaled only by high end hotels. Tip: get the pre-paid breakfast voucher ($9). I got steak & eggs with coffee - fantastic.

The hotel was built on 1928 and looks like it was built in 1928. The room is tiny and outdated with tiny bathrooms. The elevators are 85 years old and work in shifts, meaning one is always broken so the entire hotel relies on only one elevator at a time, which makes your elevator ride a slow one, stopping on every floor. The room itself is very noisy, as if you're sleeping in an engine room, and it didn't help that one night, the guests in the adjacent room decided to have a party there. We had to call the front desk twice to have someone come and talk to them, but that didn't do anything. After a few minutes they started smoking pot and our room stunk for the rest of the night. He had to complain a third time. I would never stay there again.

We strive to exceed our guest’s expectations on each and every visit. The hotel’s elevators are not 85 years old. In fact, the internal elevator cars and all mechanicals were replaced in the past year. However, the original bronze clad elevator doors from 1928 were restored and are still in use today. We apologize if you experienced service issues with the elevators during your recent visit. This is the exception and not the norm at the Ambassador. We have a variety of room types and styles in the hotel with different value price points for our guests. We do take noise complaints very seriously at the hotel for the comfort of all of our guests. Our General Manager would welcome a call from you to discuss your stay with us in further detail. We look forward to the opportunity to have you at the Ambassador again real soon.
