I have stayed several times at this attractive, art deco hotel, sightly off the beaten path but not too far from attractions in Milwaukee. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable; the overall effect is luxurious without being overdone. Though the bathroom is "compact," there is an extra basin outside the bath which helps. A restaurant, lounge and coffee shop on premises, along with available room service, offer great convenience. Starbucks in the lobby cafe in the morning is a great plus, but note that the hours are short. Also, room service and the hotel restaurant close early on certain days.

We had a housekeeping problem during a recent stay, making for a poor night's sleep. When I told the front desk in the morning they apologized but offered no compensation. Because I'd stayed here before without incident I was willing to give them another chance, and when I called back to book for another night and asked if they could give me a good deal because of problem during my last stay, they not only gave me an excellent rate but went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect for us. It is clear that they strive to maintain the highest standards and are prepared to remedy mistakes.

The one negative for the hotel is that they now charge $20 for parking and guests are required to use the parking deck instead of the adjacent lot. Until a year ago free parking made this an attractive alternative to the downtown hotels, but now one has to compare the costs more closely considering this may be a less desirable location for many. In addition, I object to parking in the deck when the lot is available. As a woman, coming back later in the evening I do not like to walk through parking decks alone and much preferred the lighted lot, close to the hotel, where I have a clear view of my surroundings.

Room Tip: There is a lot to do in Milwaukee, but if you plan to spend time in the room ask for a higher floor...

Nice but not that clean. Shower curtain was gross and tub was stained. The rest of the room was very nice. Staff was friendly. Parking charge was unreasonable and hotel was overpriced for the neighborhood and the city.

Very nice hotel. The rooms were cozy and clean. I love that there was a cafe , a bar and a dining room. We utilized all of them. The shuttle was a great way to get to Milwaukee's destinations. I'm very happy we chose the Ambassador

Check-in was a little strange. The person working behind the desk nor the bartender didn't know exactly what the shuttle schedule was, even though it was the night of a Brewer's v. Cub's game and I wouldn't think this would be such hard to find information. Then according to the website parking was complimentary but come to find out it still costs $20/night to park.

The room was nice and the bed was comfortable, all you could really ask for. Breakfast the next morning in the restaurant was good as well.

We got the room on Expedia for well under rack rate, but feel that it would have been severely overpriced at the $200 rate on their website. It was close to Miller Park and offered a very convenient shuttle both to and from the game. The room (a corner) was small, but had everything we needed. They use Aveda bath items, and Starbucks coffee but you are paying for it. There charge $20 per night to park in a covered lot....which I didn't see anywhere on the website. They have on site restaurant and bar with outdoor seating although we didn't use.
We stayed for the proximity to the ball park....it's not in the greatest part of Milwaukee.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are SMALL

We came up for the Cubs/Brewers game and stayed 2 nights. The staff was very friendly. The free shuttle was an excellent source of transportation for us. If I return to Milwaukee I would definitely stay at the Ambassador Hotel again.
