Marvelous seats--twelfth row from the orchestra, center third. Appreciative crowd. Tremendous, original, emerging virtuosity exhibited by the young (26 year-old) Finnish conductor, who seemed rather to undulate, rather than conduct. Was admitted "back-stage" after the concert to personally congratulate Rouvali for his tremendously perceptive interpretation of Sibelius (stood, informally, with the rest of the orchestra awaiting the conductor, next to the featured Danish cello soloist, Andreas Brantelid, who would have gotten my undivided attention had it not been for the majestic performance of Mr. Rouvali!!
