Although part of The Pfister Hotel, the Mason Street Grill does not feel as though it is part of the Hotel. The Bar area is very comfortable and inviting. The food is very good. I had the fried Lake Perch sandwich for lunch and, while fired, it was fresh and not overly breaded or cooked.

We recently attended the Trefethen wine dinner and the evening was enjoyable with incredibly tasty dishes, generous courses and carefully paired wines. The only minor miss was a House port with the dessert course which could have been a little more creative. As always, the service is professional yet friendly. A wonderful value and we look forward to future events with such excellent wineries and wonderfully matched wines.

Try to get to the Mason Street Grill a few times every year. Wish I could go every week since the food is outstanding. Went two weeks ago before a show and the staff was nice enough to ask if we had any evening plans, which we did. The dinner was served in a timely manner, and we had plenty of time for an after-dinner beverage before we walked over to the theater. The food was A+ once again.

Okay, okay - that title will be explained momentarily. First let me say that this continues to be one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Sure it helps that it's housed in one of our favorite hotels anywhere. But without a doubt, it would be a favorite no matter where it was. From the minute you walk in, you're greeted with professionalism and kindness. Not being from Milwaukee, we only get to visit this great spot every few years. Yet, our waitress remembered us and said she'd waited on us about a year and a half ago. (I should say that my son is a wonderful and gorgeous special needs young man and people remember him everywhere because of his unique beauty and sweetness). We sat in the same comfy booth as always. Perfect ! The ambiance is lovely - a real downtown feel - clubby and comfy. The food is always outstanding and here is where the 'funny' title of this review comes is. Last time we were here, I for one ordered the Swordfish which was perfect in everyway. So, naturally I wanted to gravitate towards that, if they were offering it. They were, but it was done with a tomato confit and something else that definately was too complex for me. I'm a simple girl who likes one or two straightforward flavors on a dish. So, I asked if it could be prepared more simply and I said, maybe just lemon and butter and... oh, maybe capers if chef had them. Well, it was decided that was fine. However, shortly before the meals were to arrive, our darling waitress came to the table and said, "Chef would like to know how you'd like your Capers prepared". We all started laughing hysterically because we knew (or at least we thought) that surely he was giving me a little jab for 'messing' with his perfectly thought out tomato confit. We'll never know for sure if that was the case, but it gave us a great chuckle even the next day. So - Thank You Mason Street, not only for a great evening but also for a great story we get to tell our friends. We can't wait to see you again. P.S. If you read my other reviews of this great spot, you'll see that this is a long standing love affair.

A group of seven of us visited Mason Street Grill for lunch. The food was very good and the service was excellent. This is a very busy restaurant over the noon hour and it took us a good hour and 40 minutes to get through lunch and return to work. If you can spare the time, it is a treat to dine here. Our table ordered a variety of menu items from sandwiches to salads to raviolli and everyone was pleased with their choices. The only con was that it is very loud in the restaurant and difficult to hear those on the other side of your table if you have a larger group.
