“Living on an Old Brand”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2013 via mobile

It gets my bulldozer award. Too old, too worn, poor service....it's over. Stayed here 8-9 years ago with the State HOG rally and it was bad then, bad now. Small town, hard to find location charging big resort prices. Hogs had plenty of issues here, and nothing's improved. Vowed I was not ever staying here when a business event required I revisit. One of those places you don't even want to take your shoes off. Killing bugs in my room, sewage swell in conference center, food lousy, out of call brand liquor..should I go on? It's like camping without the tent. Go to the Osthof at Elkhart Lake. Bulldozer award!

We booked months in advance to find somewhere for the 10 of us to stay during the Air Venture week. Most places around Oshkosh were waaayyy over our budget. Fox Hills in Mishicot was perfect! It took about 1.2 hrs to drive into the event and we had lots of room to spread out, play outside, cook meals, swim and enjoy ourselves.

We had 2 units - one large 2 bedroom unit in building 5 (right across from the playground, pool and activities area) and a bedroom unit with mini fridge/microwave & coffee maker in building 9. The resort put them close enough together so we could easily walk between units. This resort IS out in the country as others have posted, but only a few miles into a town with restaurants, grocery stores and a wonderful beach and park area.

Our units were clean and well stocked. When we needed a few items - all we did was walk over to the check in desk and everything was given to us right there (can opener- ours was broken, a second large pot and skillet to cook for our group). We enjoyed our time at Fox Hills and would consider returning again to explore the Door County area and Green Bay.

Room Tip: Building 5 was across from the pool and activities area

I did enjoy my week in a timeshare at Fox Hills resort. The condo was beautiful and comfortable...nicer than usual rentals. However, the condo check in was poorly marked and I wasn't given good instructions about entering the condo itself. I was told it was on the second floor, but I didn't know I had to enter one main door to get inside to find my condo. Minor, but after driving to 2 places to check in (very small signs and lots of foot traffic), it was a bit frustrating.

The condo was beautiful, but I was there during a heat wave in late July and there were only 2 window AC units installed in the living room and one bedroom. I know it normally isn't that warm in Wisconsin, so AC probably isn't needed. I used the ceiling fans, too. The condo was beautifully decorated and comfortable.

Mishicot is a very small town, so I had to drive 20-30 minutes for most things. I don't golf, so I didn't spend any time at the resort. I also never figured out operating hours for the restaurants in town. Manitowoc isn't far away, so I went there a lot.

Overall, it was a nice week. I probably wouldn't go back, but I did rest and read and enjoyed my stay. I tend to agree with Debbi1050's review for the most part.

We had a fantastic time while visiting Fox Hills! We loved the golf villas. We had a large spacious 2 bedroom unit with a full sized kitchen which we did use to cook in while we were there. Since we had 2 grandkids, it was nice to separate them for naptime so they could sleep and we could rest! We did Bay Beach Amusement park in Green Bay 2 different times and the Wildlife Sanctuary across the street from Bay Beach a different day. We stayed 7 nights and hung around the Resort on the days we didn't go to Green Bay. It was so nice to have activities for the young ones to do and we all played a family Bingo game and won coupons for free golf, BOGO breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed the pool, fitness room and the mini golf across the street. WE loved having coffee on our balcony in the morning too.
While we were there we experienced a tornado warning/strong winds and did have to go to the lower level, inside wall, for 30 minutes until the storm passed. Power did go out for several hours. (we had a smart phone that is how we knew the storm had passed). Our packet which we got when we arrived had everything we needed to know what to do in an emergency really paid off. We were lucky there was no serve damage where we stayed. As we left town the next morning we saw the harder hit homes and really felt lucky not to have gone thru that. My heart goes out to them!
We had a wonderful time and would definitely go back. All the staff were very helpful and most accommodating!
Maleka

Room Tip: We had a 2 bedroom golf villa upstairs unit with a balcony.

We recently selected Fox Hills Resort for our lodging needs as our legion baseball team traveled to the Green Bay area for the Class AA Legion State Baseball Tournament. We were running out of options in downtown Green Bay due to Green Bay Packer Family Fun Night. So, we looked about 20 miles away in Mishicot (which was closer to Luxemburg, where the tourney took place). Michelle Farr (sales manager) went out of her way to find enough rooms for our entire team, coaches and families, during a time when they already had several bookings due to multiple weddings. She was able to move a few things around to find space for everyone in our group for 3 nights. A few days into our trip, we moved out of hotel rooms and stayed in the golf villas. The quality of the rooms both in the resort and the villas were overall very good. Everyone in the group "really" enjoyed the villas, and would definitely visit again if they were in the area. Our team won our way to the championship game so we had plenty of time to spare in between games for 5 days. Fox Hills offered all of us activities such as golf, mini-golf, swimming, hiking, sand volleyball, horseshoe and a fitness center that had way more to offer than your standard fitness center. Manitowoc and Two Rivers are both located within 10 miles of Fox Hills and offered great site-seeing and Lake Michigan was beautiful. Another added benefit of Fox Hills was The Willow Restaurant which offered a great breakfast buffet for $7.95 to our players/families. There was a ton variety in breakfast choices all for a very reasonable price. Benchwarmer's Bar and Grill was also a nice option for lunches and suppers. Their prices too were very reasonable and the burgers and chicken wings were definitely our favorites. Benchwarmer's also offered live music each night while we were there and it was very good! Overall, I would highly recommend Fox Hills to anyone who is considering travel in that area.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with a larger group, definitely consider the villas as they offer privacy to mu...

This resort is located in the middle of nowhere. So you have to drive to other towns unless you want to eat at the resort restaurant. The food in the sports bar was okay, but the restaurant food leaves much to be desired. The room was fairly large and included a refrigerator. Nice indoor pool and fitness room. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The golf course is okay, but we were a little disappointed with the pro shop response when we reported a 5-some (a big golf no-no) that was playing in front of us, without any offer to play through. Steps should have been taken to instruct these yahoos that 5-somes are not allowed and to remind them that faster players should be allowed to play through if you are not keeping up with the players in front of you.

Our visit to Fox Hills did not start out the best. We came to check in only to find out that our room had been given to another customer by mistake and the hotel was fully booked. We were participating in the Scenic Shore 150 bike ride and had just been on our bikes for over 5 hours to complete the first 75 mile leg, looking forward to a hot shower and a bed. After what felt like an eternity of waiting around the front desk was able to find an open effeciency in their condo property for us. Not only did they charge us the original negotiated rate for the upgraded room but they also gave us some spending money for dinner at one of their restaurants. They turned a very bad experience into a positive one and we are very grateful.
