Aldo Leopold Nature Center
Ranked #1 of 4 things to do in Monona
Attraction details
Reviewed 27 February 2013

The nature center is part of a 53 acre expanse of prairies, ponds, and woodlands. The numerous gentle trails are a constant delight of changing environments, wildlife, and nature up-close. It's all free, and the center itself is comfortable and worthwhile.

This nature center is conveniently located right off the main highway, but you wouldn't know it once you get to the center surrounded by woods and prairie. Great programming for kids of all ages, and a very interesting climate change interactive exhibit for all ages. Check out Science on the Sphere!

This is really a Monona, WI jewel. We walked for a couple hours through the gardens and in the dome indoor area. Took lots of beautiful pictures. There is a lot of architecture and statuary among the hundreds of varieties of plants and flowers and water structures and it really is a serene walk with lots of different view. Would highly recommend it. Cost is free (outdoors) and only a dollar or two for the indoor area. Very family friendly and affordable to all.
