Let me just start by saying that because we didn't have breakfast, and it's a bit too far from centre to walk in, I've only given an Average, but if it's the right location for your stay, I would absolutely recommend it.
My husband and I stayed for two nights at Hamden with our niece. The proprietor was very pleasant and both the room and ensuite bathroom were quite spacious, especially by B&B standards. Ours overlooked the back garden from the second floor (or first floor, if you're European). Though it is not the prettiest place we've ever stayed, everything was clean and tidy, there were extra blankets and pillows in the cupboards, and soap and shampoo in the bath (which is not typical for B&Bs).
We can't really comment on breakfast, as we did not partake - our friends lived literally just down the street so we had brunch with them, but as per other reviews, they asked us when we would like it (as opposed to telling us when we could have it), and the room was pleasant and well-equipped. Looked like it would have been good.
Finally, I would say that for those without a car, Hamden may be a bit far outside the core, and we did drive/taxi in both days, and even that was 10-15 mins depending on traffic. However, Cherry Hinton is well serviced, there is a liquor store, small grocery store, and a few pubs and an excellent Indian restaurant a short walk down the street.
