“Exceptional hospitality.....”
Reviewed 10 June 2013

Stayed for 4 nights in Feb 2013. The best place we stayed in our two weeks of travelling. Glenys is a truly superb hostess who thinks of the tiniest detail. The bedroom was beautifully decorated and it and the en suite were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the house. Having use of a fully fitted kitchen was great. And one did not feel awkward using it as you do in other places. If I were to be in this area in winter, I would definately book this B&B - it is comfy and welcoming and looks just like a home from home. The woodpile ready for those blazing fires is impressive!!! Thank you Kevin and Glenys, and particuarly, Buckley.

Stayed a week with Kevin & Glenys & didn't want to leave. We felt more like friends, than paying guests. Kevin & Glenys were interesting & interested making our stay so enjoyable. The historic house is spotless & well loved. Fascinating photos & news articles of the 1870's house adorn the walls that give you a real insight into the early days of Queenstown area. If you don't like the rowdy crowds of an evening then this is the place for you. It is wonderfully quiet! Glenys's personal touches during our stay, like choosing what time we wanted breakfast, were greatly appreciated! Especially since we found ourselves sleeping later & later as the week progressed. Kevin's knowledge of the local fishing spots was an advantage & we had lots of fun finding them, we even caught a few trout. The house sleeps six so perfect if you're travelling as a family group. We won't hesitate to return.

We stayed with Glenys and Kevin for six nights, and wish it was six months. The spacious area we had ensured that the peace and quiet of the location continued in the house. As hosts, they are exceptional, breakfast beautiful, i have even bought a yoghurt maker as Glenys converted me to making my own. Buckley was so well behaved. The extra touches were thoughtful, and having things such as wifi and the use of a spacious and well stocked kitchen was fantastic. We will be back, and take our family with us, wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

My wife, my mother, my father and I stayed with Glenys and Kevin, Buckley and the Cats for four nights in Feb 2103. The house is beautiful, the history is enthralling, and the area is truly beautiful, but it was Glenys and Kevin that really made the place for us. Glenys' attention to detail in the house was excellent, and she was genuinely friendly and willing to share her knowledge with us, not to mention the fabulous breakfasts and the home made bread. Kevin was kind enough to lend my dad and I some fly-fishing gear and give us expert advice which lead to us having two of the best days fishing of our lives. We had the whole house to ourselves, and enjoyed sitting in in the evenings and having a quiet couple of drinks. Truly a home away from home, and a wonderful area to explore. Thanks Kevin and Glenys!

Thanks for those kind words and taking the time to write your review. We enjoyed your company and hope to see you again sometime in the not too distant future. Hope your Mum and Dad have a safe journey back to Ireland, your dad can dream all the way about that big Brownie he caught.

We had a lovely stay with Glenys and Kevin in Queenstown. The house is beautiful and the location is peaceful and remote. The home cooked breakfasts were delicious and Buckley the dog was a great addition!

It is a bit of a drive from the city centre, but we really enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown after a busy day.

Hope to visit again one day!

My family of 4 adults (include my in-laws) and my daughter (9 years old) had a wonderful and warmest stay of 3 nights during the NY holidays. The history of the house dated back to 125 years old, with so much to learn from, it's so well kept and organized with Wifi. Glenys (the host) is a wonderful lady, very helpful and so attentive. Location: 10 min from Queenstown, very easy!
This is the best B&B I even stayed in!

Situated a short 10 min drive outside of the Queenstown city centre this gorgeous B&B has it all. Glenys and Kevin are just such wonderful hosts - considerate, generous in their sharing of knowledge of the area and exceptional in their level of care and attention to detail. To top everything off, the added presence of Buckley the dog and his feline counterparts Elly and Roxie made the Ferry B&B feel truly like a home away from home for me.

You are staying in one half of their home with your own kitchen, bathroom and dining / living room area. There are 3 bedrooms in total in the guestwing and my mum and I took two of the three. The bedrooms were lovingly decorated ( fresh flowers a lovely touch), spotlessly clean and we woke up each morning feeling relaxed and refreshed.

The breakfasts were so well done - Glenys prepares freshly baked bread each morning ( Ohh, that smell! ) - and as well as a range of fruits, yoghurt, bread, jams and honey there were also eggs and bacon available.

The living/dining room is wonderfully roomy and again, lovingly furnished. It has a beautiful old piano and a fireplace and Glenys and Kevin have many books and cd's available at guests disposal. The best bit after coming back from a days trekking around Queenstown was to sink into an armchair beside the fire and have a nice cuppa!

It was fairly chilly when we were in NZ, and the fireplace was always on when we woke up in the morning, after we came home and/or when we returned from our dinner plans.
It honestly felt like there was some kind of lovely house fairy who anticipated our needs before we did! The house fairy really was Glenys ( sorry to give the game away folks ) but her customer service skills so far surpassed any I have ever experienced staying in a hotel or any other type of accommodation that I did wonder whether she was mere mortal or something more... :)

Now, about the location.
If any of you are humming and hahhing about the 10 min drive into the city centre please don't think twice about staying here. The location is so much quieter than the town centre and the countryside is glorious at any time of year. It also has the advantage of being a closer 10 min drive to Arrowtown which any trip to Queenstown must include.
The fact that for less money than a small hotel room in the town centre, you can have what basically amounts to your own little cottage makes the decision all too easy!

You couldn't possibly regret staying here...truly...
