We just returned from a weekend away at Blue Harbor Resort. We reserved a 2 bedroom villa. Upon driving up to the resort it was beautiful and impressive. We were excited. We have a 3 year old and 22 month old. So we were really looking forward to spending the cold weekend at the waterpark.
I had called 2 weeks earlier to make our reservation. The reservation person was super helpful. The villa was $700+ for 2 nights during the off season. So I was expecting a nice clean room.
Upon arrival to our room, it was dirty. There was a white powdery substance on the table. Now after seeing so many "do not let heroin take you" billboards in Sheboygan I was really wondering what the heck was on the table. Who knows. The floors needed to be vacuumed. Stuff stuck to my feet as I walked through the place. The countertops in the kitchen had this similar substance on it. The floors were chilly. it was super cold out, like -10 degrees ish, so not surprising. The rest of the villa was nice. The kids room was cute. The master bed room was nice. The beds were really comfortable. The bathrooms were nice, needed a little caulk maintenance, but no big deal. There was definitely plenty of room. There were really nice flat screen tvs in all the rooms.
Now the huge disappointment....so we specifically booked this waterpark instead of one in the Dells again. We liked the Dells, but the drive is so far. Remember we have a 3 year old and 22 month old so we wanted toddler friendly, which I had heard about this place. When making our reservation the lady stated that the entire park will be re opening after a routine maintenance shut down. Ok, awesome, will be fresh. Yeah, well the toddler section was CLOSED. So the waterpark was not very fun with 2 babies that little. They couldn't even sit and play in the water because everything was too deep. I understand things happen. Just wish they would have told us, and allowed us to reschedule another date. The other review of the water park....the slides are nice. The lazy river was nice. The life guards were great! They stopped all the pre teens that were running and pushing, and kept them in line. The BAD, the locker rooms were awful. Since we stayed in the villa a block away, we needed to wear clothes there. They were FREEZING and dirty. The 4 toilets that were there on Saturday were disgusting. 1 was clogged, 1 had poop smeared all over it. The other 2 were Scary at best. The following days the toilets were fine. Just would be nice for them to be monitored more often.
We went to LINO Italian restaurant in the river district. The food was awesome. The service was phenomenal. The owners were super hands on, out going, chatty, and fun. Would definitely go back there! Not too expensive either. $125 for 2 for dinner.
