The service you get at the waterpark is terrible. Those kids that work there are rude and lazy. Example: I called twice & left messages for a response to lost/found, no call back. Went there twice to have someone check but you end up with a quick response, "Sorry, nothing was turned in."
Another example: in the arcade, the workers just stand around talking and are slow to react to customers. Also the arcade is very expensive!

The managers should review the service in the pool/arcade area. Those workers need to have better customer service...a simple smile isn't so hard!

Water park is great for kids 4-11 years old. We had a fireplace loft room that could sleep up to 8 - we had 3 adults and 3 kids with two at 5 years old and one at 8 years old. Room was wonderful. Beds were comfortable. Room was large and clean. Staff was also wonderful. Only reason not to give this a 5 rating is that there was no complimentary Continental breakfast. You had to buy the buffet at $14 per adult and $6 (I think) per kid. The only other option was an in-house Starbucks or leaving the resort. Also, the "beach" is very small and was not very clean - but who needs it when there is such a great water park with both inside and outside pools at the resort. Other than the breakfast offering (or lack thereof), this is a super place for a weekend (or longer) and we are likely going back sometime in the future.

Room Tip: We had "city view" which was still pretty nice from the 4th floor. However, the first and second floor probably did not see much but the parking lot from the city view or the sand dunes from the lake view. Ask for 4th floor if possible. Also, if going to the water park, ask for room on that side of the Resort (or it will be a long walk every time you go)

We stayed at the Blue Harbor for a long weekend for a wedding. It is a beautiful resort, but a bit on the pricey side. Most of the services were excellent - one exception was housekeeping - the first day housekeeping didn't clean our room at all - made the bed and left fresh towels, and that was it.
My biggest concern was the daily "resort fee" that is tacked on, in addition to your room. I thought that would be OK because we could use the indoor water park, but forget that. We don't have children and every time I went down to check out the water park there were so many children there and noisy it wasn't a pleasant place to be. The children were having a great time, and I'd glad they were. I just didn't like being charged extra for something I had no intentions of using.

Let me preface this by stating that we stayed in a two bedroom villa. Our particular villa is the only one I can vouch as having the critical water problem I will outline below. Built on the remains of an old coal plant, Blue Harbor looks like a magnificent facility. Terrific location on the lake with the river to its north. Check in went smooth for our extended weekend. Villa was even ready prior to the 4pm check-in time. The resort looked deserted on the Thursday we arrived. Our car was pretty much the only one in "condo row" which is set apart from the main hotel. Our villa was clean and spacious. Two-bedroom unit. Kitchen. Ample space in the living/dining area. Three HD tvs. Wifi included in the tariff. Great view of the dunes and lake... and the Edgewater Generating Station to the south. Can't help that. Despite it being mid-June, the cold winter still grips the lake, and a chilly wind assured that windbreakers were required for any lakeside activity as temps stayed in the 50s. It's also prime alewife die-off season so it was near impossible to walk along the lake and not step in the decaying and pungent remains of silvery fish. While at the resort we enjoyed two breakfasts in the Beacon restaurant and massages in Reflections Spa. While a far cry from the utter luxury of the Kohler Waters Spa a few miles away, the experience was quite nice and we were told that a spa overhaul is imminent. All staff were friendly throughout the resort and I think most families will be quite happy with a stay here. Now-- the caveat. Our unit had inadequate hot water. Not even enough to fill the jetted tub. Not even enough for two people to complete 5-minute showers. This is simply unacceptable. A place to sleep and bathe is pretty much what you want in a hotel and when a family doesn't have hot water, it's no fun. You'll also hear every footstep above you in lower villa so pray your building "mates" don't sound like they have an indoor basketball game going like ours did on our last night.

Room Tip: Lower-level condos will be prone to lots of noise from above.

On June 5th my girlfriends and I stayed at Blue Harbor Resort in one of their Villas. These are really four unit condos. Our building had two, two bedroom units on the main floor and two four bedroom units on the upper level. We had the four bedroom and three bathroom unit. Two of the bedrooms were up another flight of stairs which was fine for us, but be aware if you have difficulty climbing stairs. Each bedroom and the livingroom had a flat screen TV. We were right on the lake and the view was beautiful.
One night at 2:30am some rowdys from town came to party on the beach. Security was there very quickly and got them to leave. I felt very safe at Blue Harbor.
Be aware that it is much cooler near Lake Michigan than a few miles further in at a golf course. Bring a jacket.
My only issue was there was black hair in the shower drain and the caulk at the base of the toilet needed scrubbing or replacing. But on the whole it was very clean.
