“Avoid during rain!”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

The Park and Campground are nice. The restrooms need modernizing. It rained and the Campground was flooded. We have a pop-up but tenters had to leave. Observation tower area was nice for a picnic. No weekday ranger events. Beach was disgusting and closed the day we wanted to go there. Garbage dumpsters overflowing. Picnic table was broken and fire ring small.
We love WI State Parks but probably will not go back to this one.

“Great views, relaxing by the lake”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

This state park is located a short distance from Appleton, Wisconsin, and has a nice little campground area, beautiful lake views from the cliff areas, and some nice, rocky shore areas where you can perch yourself on a large outcropping and sit and watch the waves. A nice state park!

“Very Nice”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

The park and campground are very big. There are a lot of hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. The camp sites at the campground are spaced out far enough so that there is a feeling of seclusion that is really nice. The park overall and all of the facilities were clean.

The only negative is the lake access. The park is located on the largest lake in Wisconsin and I think it has the state's smallest "beach". What they call a beach is a very, very narrow strip of shoreline approximately 200 feet long. There is a maintained grass park area at the lake access area that is nice for picnics but not really a day at the water. The state park has a really nice marina though.

“Great park for a weekend trip”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

We stayed in High Cliff State park for a weekend.
Pros: The Park itself has a lot to offer: trails in the woods- some easy, some moderate. There is a marina, a beach, a museum, bike and horse trails, observation towers, bird nests and other attractions. The campgrouds were celan and semi private. The toilets and showers were usually available even though the campground was full.
Cons:The water in Lake winnebago was full of algae and warm, so it smelled really bad close to the marina. The beach was small and full of debris. The campsite was full of racoons. But this is nature. The park does not release racoons at night intentionally. Keep your food in the car at all times and throw out garbage and racoons have nothing to do at your campsite.
We will return to this park for camping and hiking.

“Scenic State Park”
Reviewed 22 June 2013 via mobile

High Cliff is a jem. It offers camping, hiking, and much more. Located on Lake Winnebago, it also offers water activities. Beware of the lake flies.
