This was the first time I had been at JJ's in Jacksonport although my family has been here before and they insisted that we go here for some good Mexican food. Well the food was amazing! We had enchiladas for the main course, and their salsa was incredible -- we could taste the freshness with every chip. We didn't save room for the fried ice cream but we got it anyway and of course we finished it. It's a casual place so jeans or whatever are perfect and the environment is cute. We went to the Jacksonport location but I'm sure the location in sister Bay is just as good. Delicious!

JJ's has very consistent Mexican food and, after a few days of starches, you are going to want some spice. Their hot salsa is chipotle amazing; chipotle amazing is a higher grade of amazing than traditional amazing, if you didn’t know. My family votes that the fish tacos are marvelous and my Mom swears by the Chicken Enchiladas.

The service is a little spotty, so entertain yourselves with the excellent chips and salsa. JJ’s is a reliably busy place (unless it is crazy cold, like it was when we were there). People come there for the Mexican food, but also the burgers (yes JJ’s has burgers), the view of the water and the drunkity margaritas. All in, you should make it a stop on your vacation.

This review really comes belated because we've been enjoying JJ's for many years now. While there on our last visit to Door County, I noticed that they weren't in the top 5 on trip advisor...truly, I was shocked. We never miss a chance to dine there when in Door County...we look forward to it! It's the best Mexican in the county, hands down. Best nachos, love their salsas, really everything we've ever had, we love. It is always busy, especially in the summer. They have two sites..one in Sister Bay, one in Jacksonport. Both are wonderful. Friendly staff, great bartenders, fun atmosphere. Casual dining at its best:) For fine dining try,"The Waterfront" (owned by JJ as well) excellent food and beautiful sunsets!!

Last night had another fine Mexican meal at JJ's. Terrific Margarita's made it feel a lot warmer than the 5 degree temperature outside.
They make wonderful fresh guacamole and salsa, too.

During a recent weekend at the Clearing / Ellison Bay, we asked the Clearing Visitors Center volunteer for suggestions for dinner. My companion was feeling "Mexican" and the lovely volunteer said JJ's had good margueritas. Looking for good local food highlights is always fun. Let's say that the locals LIKE JJ's too and on a Friday night, they were walking their talk and it was busy. We had arrived early enough to get a table for four of us. The menu offered a nice variety and among the four of us, we sampled a hearty salad, tacos, a burger and one of their soups for the evening, Pumpkin. The soup was very good. The waiter, a Keanu Reeves look-alike with an enviable tanned look, was more on the stoic side and very business like. He was efficient. The food overall was good and although the room rose in noise level and conversation did become more difficult as more people came in, the evening was a fine taste of local offering.
