This resort are all suites. They have inroom whirlpools, kitchenette or full kitchen, fieplace and patio or balcony. Indoor pool with hot tub and sauna where clean with fitness area and game room, bike rental. Outdoor pool was not filled at this time. Quiet area. Everything was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly. We will be back.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite/apartment with our toddler and grandma and grandpa. The suite was basically a very nice mini-apartment. Full kitchen with dining table, full living room with couch and two comfy chairs (some suites we have stayed in on other trips only have seating for 3 in the living area - bummer for the person who ends up on the floor), two full bathrooms and one larger (king bed plus room for pack-n-play) and one smaller bedroom. Our room was on the ground/pool level, so the patio doors opened to a patio with a picnic table and a wooded view (Grills are available at the end of either wing). Very nice room. We used the indoor pool a lot - the kiddie pool is an added bonus for families with young ones. The pool was very nice - everything was very clean. Free computer use in the lobby which grandpa appreciated, as well as a board game area. Sister Bay is also a good central location for Door County visits. We will definitely stay here again if we have the extended family with us.

We stayed in the "romantic" room which was a small room with a hot tub shoved in the corner of the room. The tub was not even cleaned for use. Probably an okay place if with kids, but a waste of money for a "romantic" getaway.

My wife and I wanted to do a quick get away to Door County Labor Day weekend. I did some research and was confused on which town we wanted to stay by. When I started looking at hotel the Scandinavian Lodge kept coming up and I'm glad that we chose it.

We were greeted by the front desk upon entering the lodge. The attendant was very helpful and kind. Since we were new (sounds like the get a lot of return visitors) she gave us a brief overview of the facilities. I noticed a timeshare area off to the side, fortunately this property is not very forceful on timeshare sales (I never like being pressured when we're only visiting for a quick weekend.) The Lodge offers rate specials on Memorial and Labor Days.

We booked a romantic suite (studio apartment) and we were given room 112. The room is on the lower level and faces a hill and trees. The lower level contains the access to the pools, laundry and game room. When entering the room there was a little bit of an off smell. I think it was partly due to being underground, but also I think the sink traps just needed to have the water run. The studio contains a large, single sink bathroom with a sliding door shower. The main room contains a half kitchen (microwave, sink, pretty large dorm style fridge), bed, TV, fireplace, small table, and large whirlpool tub. Everything worked well, TV had lots of channel, never tried the DVD/VCR player. We also never used the AC because it cooled down at night. We just opened the windows for a bit and it was very pleasant. There was a small patio, but we didn't use it, because there wasn't much of a view or exposure to sun.

Both pools (outdoor and indoor) were kept at a warm temperature and very clean. Table tennis is located in the kiddie pool area, which can get somewhat warm, but equipment was in good condition. Tennis courts are also in excellent condition and we didn't have any problem signing up for a time. Wireless internet worked excellently (not sure if we were close to a router, but it was better than in our house.)

Location is close enough for adults to walk to downtown Sister Bay (20 minute walk or so). I wouldn't recommend it with kids, because there is not sidewalk for a stretch. We enjoyed Al Johnson's (good not just for breakfast) and DC Deli for food. A good treat is Door County Ice Cream Factory, but it is all the way on the other side of town (North on 42). There is also a small farmer's market on Saturday mornings just south of the hotel on 57. Checkout was a breeze, basically handed them our keys and left.

Pros: New and neat, great pools and amenities, spacious rooms
Cons: Odd smell in room, no view/not close to water
Tips:
Try the Corsica Loaf at Door County Bakery (South from Sister Bay on 57)
Go to Peninsula State Park (Hiking, biking or just exploring, it is beautiful)
Hike from Cave Point County Park to Whitefish Dunes State Park (free, awesome hike, ocean-like beach and waves)

We stayed one night at the Scandinavian lodge, in one of the romantic suites. The room was clean, although everything seemed a little dated and old. The carpet was stained, and the room had a slightly smokey smell. It just wasn't very relaxing, inviting, or romantic.

We stayed during the off season, so the price was great. The rooms are a good value during off-season. But wouldn't pay more to stay there.

We both woke up with terrible back-aches from the mattress. (which has NEVER happened to either of us before)

The location is nice, a quick drive up the street to restaurants.

The hotel is just adequate. (middle of the road) We have stayed in much worse places, but have also stayed in much better.

Stayed for a few days in August, 2008. Our group was my wife and I, our 3 teenage children ,and my wife's mother.
Scandinavian Lodge was ideal for our group. 2 bedroom unit slept 6 easily, was spacious and clean. Full kitchen was nice, as was balcony with picnic table! Had an indoor and outdoor pool, and a hot-tub. All got used, and were clean and well cared for. Location is convenient. Pleasant staff, lots of amenities. Cost was higher than a typical hotel, but when you have 6 to sleep, it was well worth it. Furnishings very nice, 3 televisions handy for family who all wanted to watch something different before bed.
Real estate agents say it is all about location. Scandinavian lodge has LOCATION! No, it is not on the water, but it is convenient to the town of Sister Bay, to a small grocery store, to roads heading anywhere you want to go in Door County. I usually have small gripes about some properties, but I can't think of anything I did not like about the Scandinavian Lodge!

I did a lot of research and all the signs pointed me here. Glad I came as did my wife who absolutely loved our Romantic Suite room. It was really quite large with a fireplace (not used), a full wet bar with sink, mini fridge and fully stocked dish/glass cabinet. There was a in room jacuzzi that we took advantage of and a big bathroom. The king size bed was very comfortable. Plus we had access to a patio outside our room. Loved the room and the resort as a whole is excellent. There is an Indoor and an outdoor pool, hot tub, game room, fitness room, tennis court, b-ball court and play area outside for the kids. Even though we were on a couple's getaway and there were a good amount of kids around, it was a perfect place and we would definitely come back in the future. The only downside was that it wasn't really in the downtown area nor near the water but if you go in knowing that, then it shouldn't bother you. It is within a few minutes of downtown Sister Bay and the water's edge. If you need to stay on the water, book something in Ephraim.
