Church Hill Inn is kind of a cross between a motel and an inn. I found it to be very accommodating and charming, and was thoroughly pleased with Church Hill as a choice for where to stay for our first trip to Door County. We stayed in the room called "Castles" which was at the end of a hall with nice big windows. Our friends stayed in the room across the hall and were also pleased. The breakfast in the morning was tasty. One thing that I didn't see mentioned in the other reviews is that it is a good idea to have a few dollars with you when you go down to breakfast, as there are young people getting your drinks and clearing your dishes, and a little sign on each table suggests that you leave a gratuity for them. So if you do want to leave one, it is convenient to have a bit of money on you. The public areas have some comfy places to sit. The pub has a nice honor system which we did not end up using, but it was really nice to know it was there if we wanted it. The staff was very welcoming to us, and we felt very comfortable and at home here. Sister Bay was a good location for getting to other places around Door County. Again, I was happy with our choice!

We have been staying here almost every summer for years. The deluxe king room is very spacious and very quiet. Mike, the owner, is also the chef. Breakfasts (included) always have a good variety and are great. We often eat so much that lunch is out of the question. They have remodelled the lower level and included a massage room next to the workout room. The location of the Inn is really a plus because it is at the junction of both of the main roads in Door County - everything is accessable.

Room Tip: If you require a king bed, try for a corner room.

I had a quiet relaxing stay at the Church Hill Inn last week. My friend and I each had our own rooms on the second floor. The rooms were clean and quiet. I never once heard any of the other guests while we were there.

We enjoyed the free breakfast two of the three mornings we were there. There was a hot egg bake each morning along with items like oatmeal, cold cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs and french toast. Our coffees were kept filled by two fine young gentlemen each morning. I imagine they are the owners sons. Both were friendly and welcoming.

Other reviews are correct, you can tell the building is older. The bathroom in my room was very basic but serviceable. The room was furnished with antique looking pieces. I found it to be charming. Others may call it tired.

I recommend this property if you want a basic clean place to stay with a few extra touches (breakfast, honor bar in lobby, extra seating areas scattered about, board games available). This is not a luxury hotel but if you go there with reasonable expectations you won't be disappointed.

Walked in past a Trash can overflowing with garbage and cigarette butts, dried up grass and bushes in need of a good trim. This set the tone for us because every other business in Door County has the most lovely and colorful plantings and gardens. This looked tired. The front desk lady obviously HATES her job. Our room was tired. Pillows were hard like cement covered in pillow cases. Whirlpool out of order. Pool desolate, but looked clean. Complimentary appetizer was never replenished after the first guests ate. Checked in at 12--- walked by the overflowing garbage can...walked by it at 9 pm and it was even more spectacular. upon waking up this morn the garbage had grown even more. Maybe some maintenance person called in sick or something, but surely the staff would care enought to simply empty and clean up garbage!
The breakfast was fine.
All in all, I would sum this up to say it is just an old inn that could be rescued, but the ambulance had better arrive quickly!

Just returned from a three night stay at the Church Hill Inn. We have stayed numerous times that has expanded years. Since my last review we have stayed twice and have found the rooms to have been updated...very clean too. We stayed in the Wimbledon room (210) - very nice.
Breakfast as always was good and we sat out at the pool area for r&r.
And we are already booked again for mid August. It really is a great stay for the price.

You will love this place! It's different from your usual bed-and-breakfast but in a very good way. My husband loves it because it's a cross between an Inn and a B & B. The breakfasts are amazing.
