A great time was had here.
I spent a long weekend at Cosy Tents with my partner and another good friend of ours. The site is tucked away on a private property, surrounded by forest and grassland near Daylesford.
We like to camp, we also like to stay in nice hotels. For the long weekend we were looking for that 'outdoorsy,' 'something kind of different.' Cosy Tents was a great combination of the two. What's even better was the fact that we didn't have to pack our car full of the camping bits like we normally would. It meant a quick getaway from work and once we arrived we didn't have to worry about setting up; it was already done for us.
Daylesford, is a hour and a half away from Melbourne. It has plenty boutique and antique stores, and a good range of restaurants.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Jarek and Eva, the owners. They are great hosts. They are very friendly and attentive, and make you feel very welcome.
The tents, which have been imported from Europe, are really impressive. We had a queen size bed (no air bed here - we all deserve a little better than that sometimes). The tents also provide you with a portable gas cooker, cooking utensils, wine glasses and all the other important things in life. There is even a socket to charge your phones if you can't let go for a few days - it runs off a battery so it won't charge an iPad. Each tent also has a Bluetooth speaker so that you can listen to your tunes whilst you absorb the great outdoors. There is a good distance between each tent so you don't feel as though you are bothering your neighbours.
There is also a fire pit that Jarek happily lights. We spent a couple of good nights sitting around the fire. Jarek introduced us to roasting marshmallows on the fire. The site at night becomes very picaresque; the paths are lit and the evening sky is bright with stars. We felt miles away from anything.
We saw Kangaroos and other native wildlife, non of the dangerous ones.
Jarek and Eva provided breakfast for each of our three mornings. The weather was great, so it was really nice to eat outside.
Don't get me wrong, this still camping, meaning you do have to leave your tent to walk to the shower and you can hear wind and rain at night. As we enjoy camping none of this was new to us.
Looking forward to visiting again.
