Description: The Red Mill began as a Country Bar in the 1930's with charcoal grilled sandwiches and Friday Night Fish Fry's. Early in its existence, the restaurant was called the Tip Top. It was not until 1952 that the business was purchased by a Milwaukee couple and renamed The Red Mill. Several years later, a red mill was constructed on the southwest corner of the business and lasted for approximately 20 years before it was taken down. Many improvements have been made to the restaurant since the 1980's, including room dividers and an outdoor deck and 4 season porch which overlook a pond and fountain bordered by a wide variety of perennial flowers. In 2006, a drive-thru was constructed to accommodate take-home orders on Fridays. The indoor and outdoor decorations attract many visitors throughout the year, especially during the holiday season. In September 2001, the latest chapter of The Red Mill began when the Thompson family became the newest owners. Originally from the Stratford/ Marshfield area, Don and Melissa Thompson, along with their sons Dominic and Devin, are proud of their family-owned and operated business and 2013 Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year Award. We're keeping the tradition of the finest food and drink, with exceedingly friendly service that you'll return to enjoy, time after time. Thank you for choosing The Red Mill Supper Club.

The only good thing about the dinner was the walleye. It was warm when it came out. The Alfredo's sauces were okay, but the chicken was finely diced and the shrimp were micro. The argument could be made that they shouldn't even try to make a chowder since no one there ever has had a real chowder, or they wouldn't be serving what they gave us. Queen prime rib was okay, couldn't get rare. For the $100 dollars I could pick other supper clubs and restaurants that have better wine (the Pinot was open for a couple of days) and much better food. The staff almost sensed we were going to be disappointed. To the hostess, if you know the locals and some new people walk in, don't put them right next to the service entrance when there are other tables available. We could see a lot of people in the back eating and texting. As for me and my house, and family and friends... We will not be eating here. If you have the chance try the Sky club in Plover, better food, wonderful service, price is more reasonable and they have a salad bar...

Recently revisited the red Mill Supper Club. Last years visit did not go well as service and food were marginal. Not wanting to base my opinion on a singular visit, we again tried the Red Mill. This time around the service was great, but that's where the accolades end. The house special is "Prime Rib" which is served daily. We ordered the Prime, 1 Rare and 3 medium rare. Not sure where they get their beef, but the result was the same as last year. The "Prime Rib" could barely be cut with a serrated steak knife and was as chewy as jerky. I thought it may just be the piece I was served, but at dinners end the majority of the beef was left on the plates (all 4) and we all agreed it was anything but "prime".

We occasionally drive from Mpls & spend the night in Stevens Point to dine here. This started in the 90's when the Neuwirths had it & it rapidly became very special to us. OK, realistically it offered too much back then. It's lost a bit of its charm & value is now more in line with what's offered elsewhere, but we will continue coming here - a personal icon! Also a rare midwestern bar that knows how to make a blended Collins, no grenadine.
