The room was small the bathroom was pretty small also come on people ;there is a difference between retro and old the place was built in 1952 the tv was the smallest I have ever seen in a motel I am not a stuffed shirt compared to the ashes Brooke or the landmark resort the price is only 30 dollars difference but there is really no comparison when I stay away from home I expect the motel to be nicer than my home no pool whirl pooling real amenities to speak of the facility was clean and well kept up the staff was friendly but the motel really had little to offer .

Dear Jerry,
Thank you for recognizing that our facility is clean, well kept and that our staff is friendly. We really pride ourselves on those attributes as well as our deliciously comfortable beds, high quality linens, great location and excellent customer service!

An important part of true customer service in the hospitality industry is helping travelers find the right fit for a place to stay and so we often recommend travelers to other lodging facilities in the area that would be better suited for their needs.

In regards to price on the date to which you refer, our rates were extremely competitive with other hotels in this area during that special event weekend here in Sturgeon Bay (the two other properties you speak of are 20min north of here.)

And, yes, we agree that the TVs are on the small side (21” in most rooms) and fully intend to replace them as soon as we are able.

As far as our décor, we certainly are not trying to be retro, we just had the great fortune to take over a motel with so much of the original integrity of the building, breakfast bar, tiling and Simmons furnishings—incidentally, the same furnishings found in the very first Holiday Inn in Memphis, TN—from 1952 preserved. We are sorry that you were disappointed by the authenticity. Things here may be old, but they are definitely very well preserved and maintained.

We are sorry that we won’t be seeing you again and hope that you are able to find more appropriate accommodations for your needs the next time you visit Sturgeon Bay.

If you like Mid Century furniture this place is a jewel. The moment you hit the lobby you feel like you have been transported back fifty years. This place was just funky fun. The staff seemed to be teenagers from the 50s. Bathrooms were very clean and yes even the pastel color ceramic tiles on the floor and walls. The value was amazing but best of all it was quite and clean. They have a little soda fountain with four swirling bar stools thay you make your breakfast if you like. It really was a jewel of a place.

Every time we come to Sturgeon Bay, we stay in this 1950s 'retro' motel. The rooms are delightful and the staff and owners are friendly. The kitchen has a counter with help yourself breakfast fare and coffee. The owners are all musicians and on Thursday nights, there is an open mike in the lobby/living room. Really fun. Try the corner Elvis room, with his 8 track tapes and player. Location is great, with the shipyards and the historic steel bridge close by. Great restaurants are within walking distance.

Room Tip: Second floor has the Elvis room, with a king bed, a small bar and Elvis memorabilia.

Mid way my stay in the Holiday Music motel today and I must confirm that all reviewers who rave about this place are absolutely correct. The motel is tugged away close to everything in Sturgeon Bay, the staff is friendly, room more than large enough, rooms are clean, breakfast has enough choice and the car park is close to the door. The only thing I miss is the rack to safely park my bicycles at night because I am an avid rider. It is still very early in the season so the weather can be anything but I can only imagine how this place is perfect for my style of holiday travelling when the sun is out and the temperatures are in the seventees

Green Features: The hotel clearly is going green, there are separate recycle bins, soap and shampoo are in refillable, permanent bottles mounted at the wall, only single serving food items when it is absolutely needed and the staff promotes walking to dinner and shops.

We chose this location due to Tripadvisor reviews, and the location, because we were going to a concert at the theatre a couple blocks away. We were delighted with our stay. Walking distance to cool coffee shop, eating spots, water, etc. The lovely woman at the desk, I believe an owner, could not have been nicer or more helpful - great advice on eating spots, directions, etc. After the concert, we had a fire outside in the fire-ring and split a bottle of wine. Loved the continental plus breakfast in the little dining space on the main floor. Do not be put off by the numerous retro references - we had a nice queen bed and LED TV. The rooms are all they need to be - nicely spic and span. Great fun and value.

We always enjoy a great away at the HMM! What a treat to go to a retro motel that embraces music and pets ! Love the original furniture and the new mattresses! The diner area in the morning is self serve and offers some nice choices. Theresa is always smiling in the reception area and Pat & Melanie Jane always have time for a hello! Parking is free and plentiful. Great location and plenty of food, bars and shopping within walking distance. Try something different!

We have stayed here twice since the beginning of the year, and each time had a great experience. It may sound like a broken record, but as others have said it's clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and it was very quiet. Loved the retro look - happy they were able to restore it to it's past glory. It was like stepping into the '50s or 60s. The small lobby had an abundance of musical instruments for anyone to play. Really loved the ambiance of this motel. Oh, and the staff was very friendly! If you're looking for a place with granite countertops in the bathroom and lots of wasted space, this place is not for you. But if you're looking for something much more interesting, I think you'll enjoy it!
