My wife and I live in Chicago, and we were researching places of natural beauty within a reasonable distance from the city. We settled on the Door County area, and began seeking accommodations. After reading the reviews of lodging and cross-referencing for vacancy, the Garden Gate stood out as the best option available. Because we were celebrating an anniversary (and in fact the honeymoon we weren't able to take when we'd originally gotten married a year prior), we wanted to select a place that would be both comfortable and sufficiently luxurious.
We ultimately selected the Lavender room, which featured a WONDERFUL whirlpool bath and a private balcony. As readers, we enjoyed spending the mornings and evenings outside on the balcony with a good book. The beds were comfortable, and the room was spacious. The balcony, unfortunately, comes very close to having an excellent view of the bay were it not for the shipyard across the street. For the rate you pay, it's hard to complain too much about that.
Like the rest of Door County, Garden Gate is whimsical and the perfect getaway from the bustle of the city. The owner, Robin, takes great care to ensure that her patrons get everything out of the vacation time they are spending at her B&B. She provides expert curation the area and loads of delicious food in the mornings and evenings. Her mannerisms and aura are endearing and make for a memorable experience overall. I especially appreciated the effort she took to extend a gesture of kindness for our anniversary -- fresh berries she had picked earlier that day. Fresh, thoughtful, and delicious.
I would recommend Garden Gate to friends and family members.
