“Stay Here!!”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

My Wife Robyn and I recently stayed at the Garden Gate B&B in Sturgeon Bay, Wi. Upon our arrival, Robin (the B&B owner) was happy to let us check in early. She was very warm and welcoming. She is very passionate about her job and loves to chat! The house is beautifully decorated with antiques. We loved our room which included a comfortable bed, quaint balcony where we could star gaze (if there hadn't been clouds), Flat Screen for night time, and a jacuzzi tub that fit both of us comfortably (6 feet tall and 5' 9"). Robin made fresh nighttime treats that were delightful (and she even shared the recipes). We were very happy with everything...and I didn't even get to the breakfast yet! Our first breakfast was a smoothie fruit cup; a cheese, egg, and hashbrown bake; and a dark chocolate chocolate chip muffin...hmm yum! Robin was very open to meeting our dietary needs as my Robyn is gluten-free. On day two, I had a yummy cherry yogurt cup and a cherry french toast bake, while Robyn had an egg-n-cheese bake.

If you are looking for a fabulous breakfast then Garden Gate is the place to stay!! If you are looking to get up and run (and not eat breakfast)...this is still the place to stay...just let Robin know the day before that you're leaving so she doesn't make you a plate of food (she'll still see you off with a muffin)!

We'd definitely stay here again and are considering bring some family members next time we journey to Door County!

I am beyond thankful that my husband and I chose to stay one night at Garden Gate! We celebrated with just 2 nights in Door County for an anniversary celebration. One night was at Garden Gate, and Robin made our anniversary so special! She left 2 delicious shortbread/chocolate dipped cookies, a bottle of delicious cherry wine and a kind card congratulating us! The breakfast was incredibly delicious, baked goods for "snacks" amazing, house very clean and Robin was super friendly and kind. We plan to stay again next time we visit Door County!

What a wonderful place to stay! Chocolates in our room, drinks, homemade treats, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, I could go on and on... Robin was very welcoming, and made sure that our children felt welcome, too. We were very pleasantly surprised, and hope to return soon!

This was our first B&B and I doubt we will ever be able to top it. Robin was very warm and welcoming, and her home is beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic. Not only was the food great but the presentation was incredible. We were so full from breakfast that we wouldn't need to eat lunch. Robin was knowledgable of the area and gave ideas for things to do. After spending the day exploring, we would come home (because it felt like home) to dessert at 7p. We can't wait to go again. Thanks Robin!

My husband and I stayed at Garden Gate for my birthday (August 16th-19th) and it was more than we could have imagined!
Right when we arrived Robin was there to greet us, do a tour, and show us our room. Since it was my birthday she worked with my husband and had cherry wine, yellow flowers, cupcakes, and a nice card in the room waiting.
To us, the location was perfect. We had never been to Door County so staying at the bottom of all of the little towns was great so we could drive up and down all in one day. It's also walking distance to a local little bar which was good for us since we're a bit younger and wanted something to do late at night.
When Robin says she's a Bed and Breakfast - she's certainly got the breakfast part mastered. Simply put - it's amazing. Each day the table is set formally, there is a locally prepared fruit drink, coffee, and an amazing meal to start your day. From the fresh fruit starter, to the peanut butter and chocolate chip muffins, to the exceptional egg casserole with ham and potatoes - she nailed it. We would return simply for the breakfast.
Robin's hospitality and attention to detail are what makes this place so great. She's so willing to tell you about the location, her history, and other B&B's in the area.
On a final note - she leaves little snacks for late at night which are typically home made cookies and cake - YUM!
We'll certainly be back!

Innkeeper Robin is perfect for her job. She has a beautiful B&B, is very personable, and is a fabulous cook. Our room was large. The bathroom was very nice. Robin provided a home-made cake every night for a snack. We enjoyed our visit and will come again.

It was our first visit to Door Cty and I had researched a few B&Bs to stay, one of the main reasons was that it was close to the bay and downtown shopping area. Robin also allows one night stays on the weekends (most want 2-night). We checked in and the house was so charming, clean and quiet. Our room was comfortable and all of the "extras" were welcomed (coffee, popcorn, movies, soda, cake, little chocolates in our room). Breakfast was extraordinary and Robin is a delightful host, so friendly and kind. We really enjoyed our stay there!
