April 9 to 12, 2014 - Lovely Inn near downtown, I hiked for four days and Dennis had my tasty breakfast ready early so I could catch my 8 a.m. bus. Saturday evening guitar music and singing was fun. It was great having the large whirl pool tub for soaking after each hike. Relaxed the joints and eased the pain.

I've wanted to come here for years and finally made it. It was wonderful and I felt rejuvenated when I left!

I would have liked a dresser for my clothes, but managed with an open suitcase in the closet.

Room Tip: It's nice being in the main house. I liked room #1 at the front of the house and the huge bathr...

Spent 2 nights at the White Lace Inn. Breakfast was awesome- we didn't have to eat until dinner. The room, while small, was cozy and elegant with a wood-burning fireplace. We were able to go cross-country skiing and just relax. On Saturday evening, we went to the main house, brought our wine and Scrabble game and enjoyed a folk concert with a couple of the locals. Dennis, the innkeeper, was accommodating and spent time just engaging in conversation about the house and the area. Great fun!

We made a one night reservation for this bed and breakfast inn in Sturgeon Bay. We have always had good experiences with other B&Bs in Wisconsin. The location is easy to find and has a large parking lot as there are many rooms in this inn and it's accompanying Garden House. There was nothing wrong with the inn; it has a fine wood interior, several sitting areas on the main floor and a dining room for breakfast. We just felt that the owner was less than friendly as we met him and he showed us to our room, and he was not particularly accommodating for our request to have breakfast earlier than the 8 to 10.30am time so we could make an early start at 730am to take some photos. He did suggest 745am as the earliest. When I went to find coffee at 7am there was no hot coffee ready. Our room was comfortable with a step up bathroom area with a hot tub. The colors and style of the toilet set is typical of this era (pink). There was an older stereo system in the room and a very small tv screen. Overall, disappointing and with other choices around, I don't think we will consider returning.

My husband and I celebrated our 12th anniversary this past weekend at White Lace Inn. What a wonderful break from the craziness in our lives. It's quiet, peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in the Washburn House Suite B. The simple elegance of the room was perfect. I also liked that we had a bedroom area and a sitting area; not just one room. Also, there is a gas fireplace that can be seen from both rooms. It was clean. It was charming. It was perfect!

Things to know. It is January in Door County, that means there is almost NOTHING open! We did find a few Antique Shops but they were few and far between. The museum was closed. Many wineries were closed. But, the restaurants were open so we were able to go out and have a great dinner. This also means there are very few tourists. The Door County Coffee and Tea shop was open and it had wonderful Peppermint Hot Cocoa, I would recommend going there. Also, Elliot's games was a fun place for us to go.

As far as the room, if you stay in Room B. Things to note: the gas fireplace make a loud bang noise when you fit turn it on. Nothing to worry about, but it will surprise you the first time you use it. Everything else was in great working order. Also, make sure you cover the jets fully with water before turning on the hot tub, otherwise you will have water everywhere. There is a small refrigerator, a stero that is hooked to wall speakers so you can hear the music from the bedroom to the bathroom and there is a nice TV inside the sitting room cabinet.

Breakfast is in the main house, so you have to walk over there in the morning. If you prefer not to get out of your warm bed and jammies, you may have to skip breakfast. But, breakfast was yummy every morning. Egg Bake was the first day, cherry French Toast the second day and Veggie Egg casserole the third day. They were all fabulous! I also LOVED the banana chocolate bread.

Overall, the inn keeper, Dennis, was friendly and kind. His wife, Bonnie, we met at their store, The Dancing Bear. She was very nice too. They have a wonderful black dog that was sooo sweet and a small gray and white cat that was so soft and sweet. It made me miss my cats so much.

The location is easy to find, well kept and has plenty of parking. I would recommend this place to any one who needs a vacation from their hectic, crazy life!

Thank you Dennis and Bonnie!

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nicely decorated. All 4 houses are very well maintained and close together fo...

We had a nice, relaxing weekend at the White Lace Inn. Dennis, the innkeeper is very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. And the room was nice. Only minor upgrade to suggest would be a new TV. The small 12" TV is difficult to watch in the evening. (Since its off season, not much to do in town at night). Probably don't need it in summer when there is lots to do.

On arrival for a Sept weekend, we were greeted by one of the inn keepers, as she introduced herself, as were other guests who have written reviews. Keep in mind the owner runs a shop on downtown and could've been working there at that time. We never met his wife, either, but we are careful to judge the situation. We ran into the owner while wandering the garden and he was happy to chat a while. He may not be the most personable, true, but you can't guess what might be going on behind the scenes. Making the reservation was simple and the person who answered one late evening we called with questions before our arrival was helpful and called back in less than an hour with info he didn't know at the time. Once at the B & B, we got help deciding on restaurants & making calls, and the recommendations were right on. Restaurants and shops downtown close by 9pm. We found the B & B, as a whole, to be authentic, very well kept, and clean. Our Garden House room was cozy, comfortable, and spotless. All the mechanicals worked. The small balcony overlooked the garden and the sound of the continuous fountain was comforting even through the night. Every B & B has its own personality and the breakfast is part of that. No, we did not have a huge spread of food or even options, but our blueberry french toast and 2nd morning egg bake were large enough with accompanying yogurt & fruit and quick bread. The amount was reasonable for fit active adults, happy to be together in a pleasant welcoming atmosphere. You can either sit at the large community style dining table or one of several 2-4 tops in the adjacent living and sitting rooms. The location is excellent as it is within short walking distance to the shops, restaurants, theatre, gas station, bridge for sightseeing, churches, the Saturday morning farmers market, and easy access to the Hwy. There is plenty of parking on the grounds and we enjoyed seeing plates from different states. Our only recommendations are that they offer a coffee maker or electric water heater for tea in the room. The mattress and linens on the bed were extremely comfortable, but they could fix the squeaky bed!

My boyfriend and I stayed for a weekend and enjoyed our time there. Very nice room and grounds. Breakfast was small but delicious. Close enough to take a walk to the cute downtown area in Sturgeon Bay.
