Wonderful place! Dick and Gretchen are superb hosts. They have perfected the art of exactly the right amount of hospitality.

Beautiful, modern clean room. Spotless bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was homecooked, and delicious. Eggs with artichokes, scones with local dried cherries, all served at perfect temperature, and almost more than we could eat. It was so good we ate it all anyway.

The crafts gallery that Gretchen curates is very special. The fiber arts represented there are of the highest quality. Yarn that she dyes naturally on the farm, getting colors across the rainbow - what knitter could resist this?

Dick and Gretchen take the visitors out to see the sheep. It is a unique experience. The sheep come up and pay attention to you so that you will pay attention to them. It seems improbable, but they end up with over a hundred pet sheep!

We thoroughly loved our visit. Gretchen sent us on our way with advice to go see a local cove. It was spectacular, providing some of the best vistas of the trip.

We will return.

This was a week of several firsts for us: My wife and I had never visited Door County before, had never stayed in a B&B before, and had never walked out of a morning to be surrounded by such a friendly friendly flock of Wisconsin residents.

The other reviews all have it exactly right as regards the atmosphere, the friendliness and the level of service received. Although there was some rain each of the four days we stayed here, at no time did we blame this on the proprietors, and things had dried out enough that we were able to take our promised tour of the 80 acre farm on our second morning. Gretchen said there were 130 sheep in the flock at the moment, although I soon fell asleep after counting only eighty.

Arriving after Labor Day, we were the only guests for three of our four nights, so the quiet was maybe even more intense than other reviewers have experienced. The breakfasts were great, as others have mentioned. They began with fruit, sometimes served atop a fruit sorbet, followed by a hot entree...while we were there, either an egg dish or a large slice of an oven-baked cinnamon apple pancake that had to be eaten quickly before it floated off into the breezy Door County morning. And for good measure, there were normally fresh baked scones, muffins or bread to go along.

According to Gretchen, the gallery was not as fully stocked after the season as it generally would be, but my wife managed to find enough natural yarns to keep her busy for much of the upcoming winter, with the added benefit of having been introduced personally to the wool in the fields. All in all, a pleasant stay in a pleasant place.

We stayed for three nights in late August and it was wonderful. It's on the 'quiet side' of the Door County peninsula, and is incredibly tranquil. The rooms are spotless, the food is wonderful and was different every day, and the hosts are charming and helpful. We stayed in the 'Trillium' room, which has a queen sized bed with a very firm mattress, a couple of chairs and a view of the poplar grove on the side of the house. The bathroom is small, but it is a private bath. If I had any complaint, it would be that the showerhead sprays out more of a fine mist of water rather than an actual spray. We called it 'the fairy tinkle.' The whole place is very quiet, and while you can hear the pipes rattling from other rooms, no other noise seemed to transfer between the walls, giving it a very cozy, private feeling.

After breakfast on Saturday morning, we were led out to meet the sheep! They were just as charming as their owners and several of them demanded attention. Make sure you make time to visit the gallery as well. I would definitely stay here again, simply because it's so peaceful and relaxing. It's about a 20 minute trip to the other side of the peninsula if you are looking for action, but I really liked the quiet, isolated feel of Whitefish Bay Farm. There's no television in the rooms, but there is Wi-fi if you really need to feel connected. Also, if you have AT&T cellular service be prepared for little to no service anywhere on the peninsula. We had to be pretty close to Sturgeon Bay if we wanted to use our phones.

We stayed at Whitefish Bay Farm for two nights in mid-August. It was a lovely experience. The setting is beautiful, the rooms are exceptionally clean, and the inn keeper Gretchen is charming. They offer a tour of their sheep farm, and you even get to pet the sheep! If you're looking for a more off the beaten path place in Door County, you'll be very happy here.

If you are looking for a quiet spot to call home base for some day trips in Door County, Whitefish Bay Farm is the place to stay. The Rooms are really comfortable and meticulously maintained. The owners were very pleasant and made each guest feel welcome. After breakfast which is at 8:00 am you are welcome to go visit the sheep as they grazing in the field. A fun thing, and Gretchen, your host, will tell you as much as you care to know about sheep!

The inn does not have afternoon cookies and drinks like some other B&B's but this is a very affordable location and you are welcome to use a small frig that is just for guests. Highly recommended.

My husband and I just got back from a wonderful anniversary retreat in Door County. We had never been before, but we will surely return, mostly because of this perfect B&B. I don't think I ever want to stay in a chain hotel again. The rooms were simple and very well decorated with beautiful wood details and furniture. The showers were hot and relaxing and very clean. Located right next to the dunes/caves park, we were able to go on many walks through beautiful woods and shoreline. Dick and Gretchen are wonderful hosts and the breakfasts are to die for. Delicious, hot, and filling, and she some how manages to remember every ones requests for beverages each morning. Great coffee and all homemade fixings from her cookbook. Oh, and the sheep!!! This couple obviously care a great deal about raising a happy flock. I have never been around such happy and affectionate sheep ever. They know all of them by name and were very happy to answer all our questions. What a unique treat. Cant wait to come back and meet the new lambs next May. Tusind Tak!

This B+B has been run by Gretchen and Dick for the past 21 years - and their experience sure pays off! Rooms are simple, but immaculate. Breakfast is served promptly at 8 a.m.- Gretchen serves hearty, simple meals. The setting is idyllic - the B+B is a working farm with sheep and chickens. Very close proximity to Whitefish Bay County and State Park and close to major destinations in Fish Creek and Egg Harbor. Price was significantly cheaper than other B+Bs in the area.

Room Tip: Buttercup room has a king size bed!
