“WHERE DID THEY FIND THE BARTENDER”
Review of Pine Isle Sports Bar & Grill - CLOSED

Pine Isle Sports Bar & Grill
Price range: US$6 - US$22
Cuisines: American
Description: At Pine Isle Sports Bar & Grill, we believe in old fashioned hospitality, great service and classic food—like char-broiled hamburgers, grilled tuna steak sandwiches or our mini beer battered brats. We also start every meal using real ingredients and prepare them following recipes. It seems so basic, but makes such a difference.

We were sitting at the bar having lunch and a few drinks, the bartender who was a young guy went on and on about all his bar and restaurant experience. Bartender was approximately 25 years old, how much experience could you have at that age. It was apparent that he was the buddy of the "NEW" young owner who sat at the end of the bar with a bandana on waiting to cook a burger.I understand DADDY bought him the place so there is definitely a lack of experience and customer service. I also believe the bartender kid was trying to take credit for teaching the new owner kid how to run a restaurant. Quite the experience.

We used to go here regularly. The food was great, view is fantastic, fun to come in the boat. But after several ownership changes, it just has fallen apart. We went there last summer (2012) with a family group. There were flies everywhere, landing on our glasses, etc. We complained and the waitress said, oh well, it's the season for flies. It was very unappetizing. We won't go back again. We gave them several tries over the last 5 years because of the good history of the place, but it's just too expensive to eat out and just "hope" that this time it will be better.

Great location, awesome food, and the best fish fry I have had in years! Wish I lived closer, I would be there every Friday!

Its is a beautiful location and view and the only nice lunch and dinner restaurant on the Three Lakes side of the chain. Unfortunaltly the good news stops with the view and location. This use to be our favorite place to go ten years ago but it has changed ownership and management several times since then.
It seems they can not get past very very poor service and mediocure food at best. You wait a long time to get service when you sit down even though it does not appear to be very busy. You place an order only to find out they have run out of some of the items on your order.
The food quality/taste is poor to average, doesn't matter what you order its just not very good.
We go here because of the location you can drive to with the boat as its another hour run up to much better places on the lake on the Eagle River side of the dam. Would never tell anyone to go for the food. Its a shame that with this location they just can not seem to get food and service right. If the Sunset grill was open for dinner we would never go to Pine Isle as their food and service is excellent.

We try to get out on the MC on weekends and look for a nice restaurant within 60-70 miles to have lunch; preferably out on a deck. I had passed the sign for Pine Isle many times but never gone in. The first welcome surprise was the clam chowder; it was EXELLENT!. Big chunks of clam, and crisp potatoes and veggies. Not overdone at all. The menu for lunch included all kinds of burgers from Blue Cheese to avocado which I had. Good presentation, large and tasty. We were able to eat outside near the famous Three Lakes/Eagle River chain of lakes, but would not have minded eating inside the northwoods rustic restaurant itself. A very satisfying and relaxing lunch; just what we were looking for, and still another place that we will return to.
