This is actually the cafe' within the hospital (Watertown Regional Medical Center) in Watertown. And yes, it really may be one of the best restaurants in town. I had 2 people tell me that before I went for the fist time, and I simply couldn't believe that that was true. But, I've eaten here 4 times now, and believe it or not, it's actually legit.
It is impeccable and that is not debatable. It is fast, but it is most definitely not fast food. It is a cafeteria, but it is most definitely not cafeteria food. This is gourmet food. The type of cuisine is most comparable to a Panera Bread type of restaurant with soups, salads, wraps, flat breads, pastas and sandwiches for lunch and supper and omelettes and short order items for breakfast. The menu changes daily, and they have really put an emphasis on healthy meals, so not only is the food really amazing tasting, it is actually much better for you than most restaurants. In addition to the made to order items, there is nice selection of pre-made items for those on the go.
It is a hospital cafeteria, so how good can it be, right? Well, actually it's pretty nice. There is a fireplace and lounging area, a section of nice restaurant style high tables, and the ordering station is really inviting. There is also a larger cafeteria-style dining section for the busy times, and if you are facing the hospital portion of the building, it does look like a hospital. But, as hospital dining atmosphere goes, this is the best I've seen.
It is really great. I have not encountered even one person working here that is not happy and excited to help and serve.
Bang for your buck, Harvest Market cannot be beat. I just paid $4.50 for a gourmet Spanish flat bread, that one would expect to pay at least double for in any other restaurant.
The biggest downfall is the hours. I think they close around 6pm. It makes sense to close early, because the majority of clientele are hospital employees and visitors. However, this really could be a destination place to eat. Not that you'd necessarily come here on date night, but just like in a larger town where you might opt for a Panera Bread type meal, in Watertown, this really could be that type of place. Perhaps if it catches on in town and develops a niche beyond simply acting as a cafeteria, the hours might change.
It's worth checking out, and not just if you happen to be at the hospital.
