“Quirky Food Stop”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

This was an unexpected and fun experience for breakfast for my husband and myself. We were visiting Waupaca and Pine Lake to visit our daughter's family for the day. We had the good sense to pick this restaurant and the food was wonderful. We were so impressed we dragged our daughter ,son-law and grand kids there for lunch. Say hi to Danielle who is Gretchen's daughter and be sure to try their bacon and chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.

“Another good Waupaca dining choice”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Little Fat Gretchen's is a retro 50's diner. Four of us ---- frequent Waupaca visitors from out of state and all foodies --- enjoyed breakfast a few days ago. However, Gretchen's is an interesting contrast. Their coffee, listed as free trade or similar, was quite weak and without body...from several different pots. Too bad. So if you need a shot of good coffee, get it before or after Gretchen's, I am sad to report. The 'home fries' that several of us had were overly greasy and under-cooked...an easily corrected, cooking error. The restaurant was about 1/3 full when we were there. However, we all agreed that the omelets were absolutely delicious.

“Casual with Character”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

I've hit this downtown diner for lunch and dinner several times during the last two years. Like the best diners, it's kid-friendly, fast and clean.....and like the finest restaurants, it's also fresh and creative. Every day features 5-6 intriguing specials, plus homemade soup, breads and dessert. Even old standbys are given flair....for example, on a recent visit egg salad was ramped up with finely diced fresh local asparagus, a green gazpacho featured avocado, and plump homemade rhubarb pie was the star of the dessert case. There's also the standing menu. If you like american fries, you'll love Fat Gretchen's!

“What a little gem”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 via mobile

The service was wonderful and the food excellent. I had an asparagus and tomato panini that was tasty my only knock is that it was too big! I also had a brownie with a potato chip on top. The chip was soggy but the brownie was moist with great chocolate flavor. I will be going back again!
