Crystal River Inn B&B, LLC
Ranked #2 of 8 Waupaca B&B and Inns
Reviewed 15 September 2013

We have stayed at many B & B's over the years. Crystal River Inn would be at the very top of the list. Deb and Robert do an outstanding job making you feel at home. The rustic setting makes the Inn even more unique. The breakfast were very well prepared with many homegrown organic items.

The Crystal River Inn is clean, charming, and comfortable. It is located in a quiet, verdant and historic setting. The Crystal River runs nearby. Deb and Robert are thoughtful hosts and the breakfasts are not just good, they're amazing. There is more privacy than in many B&B's. Much to do nearby on the Chain of Lakes area. Great place to wind down with long walks and lake activities. Good restaurants in the area also. There is a great bookstore for browsing in downtown Waupaca too. I highly recommend the Crystal River Inn for a get-away!

Room Tip: We like the 2nd floor rooms in the house, but all are fine.

As returning guests, this quiet getaway with charming hosts is the place to unwind and enjoy nature. From the gazebo next to the river to the walks through their restored prairie, this is the place to enjoy wildflowers, birds, deer, and the company of the owners, Robert and Deb. You are treated as welcomed guests. The breakfast with vegetables and spices from their garden was delicious but also beautifully staged. The bedroom off the covered porch was quiet and comfortable.

I've stayed 3 times, each visit 2-3 nights. I've enjoyed every visit and look forward to the next. The rooms are charming, in keeping with the historic ambiance of the surrounding area. The breakfasts are lovingly prepared and served by Deb & Robert, our most accommodating hosts. There's plenty to do in the surrounding area or do nothing but sit and enjoy the gardens and the Crystal River. I highly recommend this property.

We stayed only one night and felt very fortunate that we had chosen this place.. We stayed in Helen's Summer Kitchen, which was cozy and inviting. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the covered deck while it rained and exploring the rest of the property afterwards. We loved the little historic town of Rural and took evening and morning walks looking at the historic houses and relaxing to the sound of the Crystal River. It felt like we were experiencing the best of a bygone era. Breakfast was delicious - homegrown and homemade - and tailored to our preferences. (We've already purchased one of the spices used in their sauteed zucchini.) We loved the time we had here and have already recommended it to friends and co-workers. We definitely plan to come back.

Thank you for your kind words. Yesterday afternoon was about perfect outdoors with sunshine, slightly cool and gentle breeze. Robert and I were weeding the garden and as we pause to look up, listen to the birds and wind in the trees we say, "And we get to live here!" We look forward to seeing you again!

My best girlfriend & I spent a couple of days last week in the Little House on the Prairie and plan to make it an annual event. It felt like a home away from home. Everything we needed was right at our fingertips. Deb & Robert even provided an outdoor fire pit for us. Comfortable and accommodating. The breakfast each morning was amazing. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

I have stayed at the Crystal River B&B numerous times, in the main house and also in the French Country Cottage. I (we) have never been disappointed. The area that surrounds this beautiful property is so inviting you just never want to leave.

And while staying there if you want to experience the true meaning of summer go have something to eat out on the deck at Clear Water Harbor, another one of my favorite places.

ENJOY.

We have stayed at the Crystal River Inn three times and every time it has been fantastic. We stayed twice in the French Country Cottage and once with friends in the Little House on the Prairie. The French Country Cottage was just right for two. We had a convenient Murphy bed to allow for more space during the day. The wood burning fireplace is especially nice on a cold evening. The Little House on the Prairie is a charming cabin. It had all the luxuries of home inside and out. In terms of hospitality, Deb and Robert are the best! They are always very welcoming and very interesting people to get to know. Robert and Deb cook a delicious breakfast and will tailor meals to your dietary needs. They often incorporate ingredients that were grown from their garden. We can't wait to come back for our fourth visit to the Crystal River Inn. See you soon!
