Yes, it's a cute idea, yes the room where the train delivers food is kind of cute, yes my 2 1/2yr old grand daughter liked that. Bad deal is, this is a big place & the trains are only in 1 room, so the wait is long. We waited an hour, and that was on a tuesday. We went to the bar to kill time & found out that the previous night it was a 2 hr wait because it was raining & everyone decides to go eat when it's raining. Food was not that great either. We had been to Moosejaw the night before, which is run by the brother of the Buffalo Phils. Go to Moosejaw, much better food, same beer & same handcrafted sodas. Beer is crafted at Moosejaw, sodas crafted at Buffalo Phil's. One hint if you do decide to try Phil's, there is counter seating right around the train tracks, which would be a better train experience IMO

The atmosphere is pleasant and the trains are great for kids. They also have a nice variety on the menu. However, the food is very overpriced. Additionally, not all menu items are what they say they are. For example, we ordered chips and salsa. For $5.99, we got a small plate of chips, and tiny bowl of pico de gallo. I asked where our salsa was, and our server said their salsa was not traditional soupy salsa and wasn't sure why the menu said it was salsa. So, you are basically paying for a small bag of chips and item that is normally free as a garnish at every other restaurant in America. Also, my brother-in-law ordered a beer, which was forgotten. The server said, "The bartender is still working on that beer." Meanwhile, it sat on the bar for 15 minutes before we saw her pick it up and bring it over. Be prepared to wait, too. We were told 20 minutes, which translated to 40. Overall, everyone was nice and the service is okay, but we preferred some of the other locations in town, which had outstanding service and a good menu and great prices.

My young twins are nuts for trains so a place where food is delivered - by train - was awesome. The food was good, the staff was friendly, their root beer is phenomenal and the salad bar is quite tasty.

Every time we go to the Dells, going to Buffalo Phil's is a must.

This was our second time here, due primarily to our kids. They love the food being delivered by the Train. I suggest getting there pretty early (4:00) to avoid a long wait for the tables by the Trains. While the food is fairly good, our waitress wasn't. The downside of having things delivered by train is that the waitress doesn't really stop by. Twice I had to ask another waitress to help us.

I know that my views are pretty much due to one person, but I can see how it can be easy to neglect the customers when you don't have to deliver the food. While we will probably go here again, it isn't something I necessarily look forward to.

The train is worth the wait if you want a more relaxing meal. The train kept them very entertained during dinner and they both ate well. The staff is very nice and helpful.
