“More than we expected......saved on water park expenses.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2011

We stayed here over New Years weekend. What can i say? This hotel is in excellent shape, the pools were great for our 3 and 4 1/2 year old boys, the breakfast was good, we had a fridge/microwave in the room all for a little more than $100/nite.

We were pleasantly surprised to discover they had 2 indoor pools (and 2 outdoor pools) with a water slide and other water features for the kids. Since "The Dells " is the "water park capital of the world", i guess a motel ain't gonna make it in this town without some kind of water features for the kids. But, that's a great thing because we felt we didn't need to spend big money at the indoor water parks to keep our boys entertained. In fact, they LOVED it and we couldn't pull them away! Overall, the pools were great, but they were a bit chilly. Even the hot tub was only lukewarm one morning (however, most of the time, the tub temps were just right)....

Our double queen room was clean and big enough for our family. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The only complaints i have with the room is first, the sink is located in the room and not in the bathroom. This room layout is rather outdated (even though the hotel is pretty new). Not only is it disturbing to have somebody washing their hands while everyone else is trying to sleep, it also takes up valuable space in the main living area. Second, as i wrote in my St. Joseph, MI review of their HI Express, in this day and age, a flat screen TV should be the norm. I guess they will change over eventually.

The breakfast was good and the seating area was larger than average. I was impressed with the staff keeping up with the crowds. And it did get crowded! Seems like the crowd peaked between 9 and 9:15, so plan to get there early.

Overall, this is a great place to stay. The pool area (indoor and outdoor) seems very acceptable for little kids. Older kids might find it too tame. Nevertheless, this HI Express delivers......

I thought the place was clean. Im one to clean a hotel room my self when i get there, because its the olny way to be sure. I have found some gross things cleaning hotel rooms on check in and this place seemed cleaner than most. The staff was friendly, and we had a good time. We were in the off season and it was quiet. I liked to pool area becaue it was not a huge water park with thousands of people but it was way better than a standard square five feet deep hotel pool. Hot breakfast in the morning was a plus, it wasnt anything awesome, but a free hot breakfast is alwasy a good day starter. Nice room for the cost. I don't know where people are getting the outdated thing from, maybe we had a newer room. The olny bad thing was that the high speed internet was painfully slow. Like slower than dial up, dont know if it was a temporary problem or not. Either way we are planning a return trip to the same place soon.

Paid only $70 a night over Christmas Break with the Gov't Prices, we're both public school teachers. So it was very affordable which allowed us to other things in the area. The pool area is very large but the slides are for smaller children. Whirlpool was weak. Rooms were very clean and had very comfortable beds, pillows & towels. Had to request some of the usual tolietiries that most Holiday Inns provide. They did have a large free breakfast with cinn. rolls, sausage, bisquiets & gravy, yogart etc, but the scrambled eggs were not good both mornings, must have microwaved them? Provided free microwave popcorn upon request and sold many other snack items in a small store. Major compliant was the noise. There seemed to be lots of running in the halls all night long, both nights. Lots of kids running around, I think. We couldn't hear the rooms next door but could hear the pounding of feet in the halls. We were in & out of our room the second day and never had any maid service; so we set our full trash cans in the hallway along with wet towels. They emptied the trash cans but didn't leave us any fresh towels. So we had to ask for some. We expect better from Holiday Inns, but the price made up for the short-comings.

I stayed here in 2008 and wrote a review back then. My stay had been terrible. I booked this Dec 2010 stay on Priceline naming my own price. Needless to say I was not happy that this Holiday Inn & Suites is the hotel that came up as my 2 1/2 star.

I only wanted this hotel for one night as my sister and I were going to do some shopping. We didn't check into the hotel until 10:00 PM and were not looking forward to it especially after reading some of the recent reviews. Well I have to say once we walked in and saw how clean the lobby was and read the huge sign that said their main goal was 100% satisfaction we thought maybe they had changed. We went to the front desk to be greated by a really nice gentleman that checked us in and gave us a rundown of the hotel. Hmmm we were thinking this may be OK! We drove around to the parking lot and went into our room. They must have remodeled because the room was nice. It's not a 5 star hotel but a true 2 1/2 or 3 star. They have granite countertops in the main room with the sink. 2 nice chairs, 2 queen beds, microwave and fridge. No smell in the room. We were on the 2nd floor. Bedding was OK and so were the beds. Nice assortment of pillows. Bathroom was clean and the tub drained just fine. Overall it was a nice room.

The next morning we went down to the breakfast area and to check out the pool. No one was in there since it was only 8:00 AM but it looked clean, slides for little one's and overall really nice. There was a lifeguard on duty. Also they had a game room before you walk down to the pool area. Breakfast was the standard fare and just fine. The employee taking care of the food was there every second and was continually cleaning and refilling the milk and yogurt.

After this stay I would stay here again. This hotel which was previously "Camelot" has redeemed itself to me!

Very displeased with our stay at this Holiday Inn. It doesn't compare to any of the others we've stayed at in the past. The rooms were filty & very outdated. There was mold growing in the bathroom & the tub didn't drain. The pool was dirty & had dead flies floating around. The slides & the castle in the pool area were unsafe for small children as they didn't have slip-resistant material. Will never stay here again!

Our room had a smell. Some things were aging and not kept up well. Although the breakfast buffet had quite some variety most of the food was plastic - artificial and processed.

We were in the area for a wedding, so we spent a day in the Dells. The Holiday Inn Express was mostly empty, as was the town. Overall it was quite nice, but there was a bit of mold growing on the ceiling of the shower, a small anthill by the way of the whirlpool (ants were all dead). The pool was very cool, temperature wise, but we had the entire place to ourselves.
