We were heading to Baraboo for a softball tournament for my daughter. I had to admit, I was cringing at the thought of paying for a hotel in the WI Dells area in mid-July, right smack dab in the middle of their peak season, when we were probably going to be spending most of our time at the ballpark. There are quite a few of the families on the team that camp, so they were kind enough to search out a campground in the area that offered cabins for rent along with the camp sites. We lucked out.. because Dell Boo just happened to have two cabins open for the weekend we needed.

Dell Boo offers four very basic cabins for rent - for a TON less than any hotel room in the area! and when I say basic, I DO mean basic. There is one full sized bed, one twin bunk bed and a wooden table with two benches. That's it. The cabins are 12x12, with electricty and A/C but that's it. (Note: the A/C worked great, which was a blessing after spending all day in the heat and sun) Our cabin had two electrical outlets, but the other family traveling with us said theirs only had one(Tip: bring a power strip, just in case.. and a small lamp, because the only light in the cabin is the overhead light). The cabins have a nice little covered porch out front and each one has a picnic table you can use. The bathroom/shower building is a short walk (a minute or two) away and they are spotless! The other ladies in our group, who do a lot of camping, said that they were probably the nicest, cleanest showers they've EVER been in! And speaking of clean, even tho' the cabins are bare-bones, they are very clean and very well maintained.

As for the campground itself.. it's clean and quiet and seems to be run very well. In terms of all the "bells and whistles" that a lot of campgrounds seems to be offernig these days, Dell Boo doesn't offer any of that. There's an average sized outdoor pool that the kids said was nice. The only drawback there was that they close it at dusk.. so for our 14 and 15 year old girls, who would have liked to have hit the pool after their last game on Saturday, that was a bit disappointing. I guess, if you're looking for a campground without a ton of kids running around all over the place, looking for someplace quiet and relaxing, then Dell Boo is a good choice. Honestly, keeping that point in mind, along with the fact it's only about a five minute drive from the local Indian casino (Ho Chunk), I'd say Dell Boo is better suited for adults looking for a quiet, more settled campground. Or if you're a family looking for a break from the craziness of the Dells, again, Dell Boo is a good choice.

All in all, considering that I prefer to travel where the linens are provided and housekeeping takes care of everything.. AND the room comes with a bathroom - staying in a cabin at Dell Boo was fun. I would definitely do this again. This is a great way to get the feel of camping without having to sleep in a tent (not THIS girl!) or invest in a camper.

If we end up returning to this tournament next summer, I would most definitely return to Dell Boo as well.

We had stayed at another camp ground which has become overrun with children. Being in our late 50's early 60's we were looking for a more "quiet" place to use our pop-up. We tried Dell Boo and found it to be reasonably quiet. Our only complaint was a couple of "seasonal" sites that did not observe the quite time, and were partying until after midnight. Kids running all over the place in the dark with flashlights, music, you get the picture. That is not stopping us from returning, as we are heading there in May, 2013. Bathroom/Shower area excellent!!! Grounds are clean, well cared for.

We've traveled here year after year for 6 or 7 years... it's quiet and clean - a truly perfect campground. A group of us (5 families) watched our children grow up with each trip. This is THE place to camp if you're looking for anything near the Dells... I can't say enough about it.

We stayed here as a last minunet trip very nice and quite. Friendly people and treed lots very nice! Only a few minunets out side of town maybe a 10 mins trip. We did not have time to check out the pool but it looked nice, but no water slides or anything. Felt very safe here has gates that go down at 10 pm and was quite and beautiful.

Room Tip: We stayed in #90 very nice with lots of trees

We love the sites, big enough to fit our New Gander mountain Vacation home tent, our 12x12 screen tent and our car, with a play area and a campfire ring with plenty of spare room. The little store on site an added bonus. Complete with reclining bikes to rent, a pool to swim in and a park to play for the kids. Shaded by beautiful pines and the workers have always been very kind to us and very helpful. We will continue to make this our vacation spot. Our kids love it here and so do we.

Room Tip: They have RVs, and Cabins to rent. We bring our tent and stay on the sandy Rv spots... We survived...

This is the second time that we have stayed at this family campground and would stay again if in the area. The owners were very friendly and the shower houses were awsome. We had full hookups for our trailer and everything worked well. The only thing they are missing is WiFi.
